  1. Stephen Hornsby reckons CAT might not be needed: “In the scheme of things Mike Ashley’s competition claim may not ultimately matter. With the UK government having helped to scupper the Super League it is difficult to see how the Premier League could stand in the way of another Saudi bid where further refusal will surely cause great offence to a key commercial partner. It is therefore not cynical to suggest that subject to the traditional and traditionally unenforceable assurances, Mike Ashley’s boat may well come in. The fans will be delighted.” Stephen is one of the most experienced EU and competition lawyers still practising in the UK. He has acted for clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to individuals, in contentious and regulatory matters in the High Court, before the ECJ in Luxembourg and in front of the OFT, Ofcom, the European Commission and the Competition Appeal Tribunal.
  2. Have to agree with the comments about Southgate’s limitations being totally exposed by tactical play. At least half a dozen teams in this competition have the tactical nous to undo the England team comfortably.

  5. Gives us something to talk about in this thread. Because the reality’s is there’s nothing else to talk around.
  6. It’s 50-50 at best that Ashley will win and then we have the risk of PIF no longer being interested. I’d say that means chances are less than 50-50
  7. Why would they? They don’t own a club and unfortunately there’s probably less than a 50% chance that they’ll ever own us.
  8. Because we’re all basically bullshitting about what’s really going on. We haven’t a clue and in all reality we could be in September reading about Bruce’s injury crisis plunging the club into a relegation battle just as much as we’re waffling on about rumours and Twitter pics of shops and barriers meaning the takeover is close.
  9. It’s close. Saudi Human rights atrocities being posted on bbc front page. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-57492219
