  1. Minhosa, you are absolutely spot on and your words are perfect. We're probably older than many, but after the utter dross of the 80's and early 90's, KK set the place alight both on the field and as manager. we were destined to amost disappear until he arrived, and nothing or nobody since (and I include SBR, PIF and Howe) can re-create the unbeleivable times he gave this club of ours. The absolutely joyous football we played was beyond belief and gave me more joy and pleasure in his years here than anything (perhaps apart from the Fairs cup win?) has done before or since. He is a true giant of a figure inn our history and an all time absolute legend. I guess his diagnosis is not good, but my heeart goes out to him and his family and all I can say is the biggest 'Thank you for everything' KK, you reign supreme.
  2. His commentary was dreadful! He's as entertaining as a dead mouse. Great player, terrible comms
  3. I really do think it's about time the club made a formal complaint to EUFA and the PL about specific incidents during a number of matches. Take the bastards to court if we have to, this cannot go on any longer!
  4. Quite right and apologies for the error. It was always going to be.....
  5. Only one way to win this: 5th round: Liver[pool away Semis: Arsenal away Final: Sunderland. 0:2 down at half time, we win 3:2! Easy peasy.........
  6. I was working in Manchester then. The pain can never be forgotten, not can the gloating of the reds that I worked with.
  7. As much as I can't stand Merson or Arteta, Isaak playing in the current Arsenal team, and the way they play compared to the scousers, would be a good fit for them. Despite the fact thaqt hje can't play for more than 60 minutes, has no stamina, shredded groin and is an all round cunt.
  8. Madras, I have the same book, but mine is autographed by the Fairs Cup winning team. It's a terrific book and I've always respected John Gibson as a football journalist. Those of our age group will have strood, like me, in the Leazes end and watch Wyn terrify those European sides during our cup run. It was a sight I will never forget. Wyn never scored as many goals as I thought he should have, although he was a brilliant foil for Pop Robson. He was better on the ground than he was given credit for. As was Andy Carroll with whom there are similarities. Wyn stood at 6'1" so was hardly a giant in comparison. It's a sad day knowing that he won't be around us any more but I, like many of our generation, will never forget this gentle giant of a man. Thanks for the memories Wyn, and my respect to your family and friends.
  9. I lived in France when he played there. I was a couple of hours away from Bordeaux and the fans there absolutely loved him. Played his heart out, towering headers, goals. All for a pitance. As ON said, shame he hasn't gone more local, but full credit to the guy. Playing for the enjoyment. A lesson to be learned by all nearing the end of their careers, instead of being a mercenary in Saudi. Love the guy. True local legend.

    England

I really can't be arsed with England tbh. Southgate was boring as hell, but he had good young players and generally played them in the right position. Team spirit was great and all Tuchel had to do was take thjhe handbrake off and let them do what they are good at. Instead we've got a 35 year old past it Walker, a 35 year old past it Henderson and a team that have no idea what their tactics are or what the idea is. Kane is scoring goals but his legs are gone and will struggle at the world cup. I am seriously not optimistic.
  11. I don't agree at all. Eddie has bedded all new players in slowly. Getting them fit, used to our team ethos, used to the players around trhem, our tactics. It's likely Pope will still start for some time and gently introduce any new GK slowly.
  12. Probably impossible to do. Absolutely impossible, but you can still dream
  13. Had to go out earlier - the suspense is not exactly killing, is it?. Saw two magpies. Then another two a few minutes later - got to mean two great signings???
  14. I trhink we'd all love to see such a player, but there's so few around these days. I actually don't really rate Dibling that much (despite his hype)
  15. My thoughts on the Mbuemo rumour (is there any real proof?) is that he's a 25 year old at the peak of his game, will command at least £50m fee, high wages and 1st team action. Nothing wrong with that except for a minor detail called Murphy. He's a 30 year old at the peak of his game, had an amazing season and costs a fraction of Mbuemo's wages. I'm all for the need for quality of depth of the squad but do we really need to replace Murphy right now? wouldn't it be better to buy a much cheaper, younger, 'up and coming' right winger (a bit like Dibling but not him) give him a yeat to be Howe'd and then gradually replace Murphy.
  16. That's mad! Just looked up the population of Newcastle: The city of Newcastle upon Tyne had a population of approximately 300,200 in 2021, So, 200 unwashed stayed at home?
  17. I live in Plymouth now so could only watch the parade on YouTube. Words almost fail me. The passion, the tens of thousands (How many tens? the joy, the scarves, that banner of Sir Eddie, the players. One city, one club. United. Maggpies are Massive!!! We are seriously going places - the future is so bright. I love this club.
  18. This is so bang on. Eddie has to play it to the team before kick off. No other words are needed.
  19. Thanks so much for sharing this! I haven't seen it for nearly 56 years. I stayed up late to watch it on TV that glorious night. Crazy how many fouls were awarded against us in that first half - 20? I remember Foggons goal very differently, time changes memories. He and Keith Dyson were the next best things, but I don't remember either of them making it really big. Great days that we will see repeated again.
  20. My avatar is my 'Pops' and his business partner looking after the cup in '55. I dream of the day I can look to the skies and smile for him.
  21. Gordon Marshall and John Tudor both gone. Legends both and a sad, sad day.
  22. This is more like it!! none of this wrap around bubble wrap crap. That's a real stadium!
  23. Was going to say exactly the same thing. It's horrible I want a REAL cathedral on the hill. Spires, steeple at the front, all made from stone and brick. Something worship and look up to and wonder 'how glorious is that'
