  1. Great first touch and close control. Honestly he held it up better just using his feet than Joselu or Rondon have trying to "battle" in the air so far this season.

Also with him we stopped just punting it and looked better for it.

We need to just ditch target men, they don't work for us.

Holding it up on the ground is obviosuly always a much higher percentage play. Even the best target men only control a long ball about 15% of the time*.

*Actual percentage may be miles different.

It's so obvious that Muto is at least 900%* better than Perez or Josepu.

    *Actual percentage probably true.

  2. Plea scored again yesterday, fwiw.

If we don't spend the fee, Mitro effectively left on a free transfer. Rafa did so much research he got RSI from looking at players on his computer. He must have assumed we would be signing some.

All transfer fees go to the FCB.  Ever since Carroll went and we didn't see a penny of the £35m, I just assume that nothing gets recycled to the manager.

  3. Of course the other thing with Shay was that for a lot of his time here he had Harper breathing down his neck who could come in and stake a claim to be number 1 keeping him on his toes

We've not had competition for our number 1 since then which has led to complacency from our custodian(s).

Harper was such a weird one for us.  He could easily have been a PL No.1 at his peak and arguably would have been a shout for England, noting that David James was England keeper for a time.

He was too good to be a second choice keeper, but ultimately, we had the best pair of keepers in the league for a period.  I think you may be onto something saying that Harper pushed Shay.  In the same way that Krul was perhaps pushed by Forster.

Bit tragic that we now have Blob doing the pushing.  Dubs must know that as long as he doesn't get injured, the shirt is his.  Wonder if/when Woodman will emerge as a contender...

  4. Living away from home, this forum is my last connection with the club. If it wasn't for this place, I'd barely give the club a thought.

Very similar to me.  I have almost nothing to remind me of the club during my normal daily routine.  I imagine living and working nearer home could be quite painful when you share the angst with others.

  5. Just when you think you've forgotten about this massive bell-end, he does something just to remind everyone that Pardew actually happened to us and that he's an utter thundercunt.

  6. How about we start taking up floor space in Sports direct for free advertising...Ashley Out / Sports Redirect posters all over the shop. He does it to the club so why not

Other than the minor technicality he owns the club and we don't own the stores, sounds plausible.

If we're doing that, let's take turns following him around his house and calling him a cunt to his face every waking minute.  I'm sure he'd get the message when I'm telling him what a fucking tosser he is whilst he's trying to brush his teeth.

  7. Have to be honest, I love the second reaction of the crowd when they watch the replay of a particularly amazing goal.

Not when I'm paying a small fortune to watch the game. If I wanted to see artistic shots of people gasping, I'd stick Youporn on for free.

You're not missing anything when they're showing goal replays like.

Usually not. But when they're showing a slow mo replay of players celebrating and you can hear the croud reacting to something, my piss does boil a bit.

  9. Sky Sports showing replays of an incident when the game is in play, sometimes you can hear the crowd roar or groan or whatever, something is happening but they are too busy showing a replay, then quickly cut back to the game, but have missed it.

And showing someone 'important' sitting in the crowd when the ball is in play.

I hate that, and half the time it's replays of celebrations or players/managers' faces.  f*** that s***, I want to see the game!

  10. If that's who he's sounding out as his number two, I've decided I can't see Henry being anything other than a disaster of a manager.

Bar one or two notable exceptions, the very best players tend to be utter nut-jobs, like many extremely gifted people.

Being a fucking nutter does not help when you have to manage and lead people.

I think that is why almost every great manager was a mediocre player (Guardiola and a very small amount of others excepted).

Henry was a great player, but I think he's a touch too eccentric to be a great manager.

  11. I remember as a kid that when setting the wall you would stand far post and set the wall to cover the near side of the goal. Thinking was that it's harder to get the ball up and down to the near side.  I'm sure that keepers set the wall the other way round now or even stand near the centre of the goal. I'm sure there's been a bit of a glut of average free kicks going in because the keeper is nowhere near.

    Might just be me.

  12. Have to be 100% behind him like. From a constructive viewpoint alone, who else would improve our situation?

No one would.  He is absolutely the best we could hope for with the FCB in charge.  If/when he goes we can fully expect some thundercunt like Wise replacing him, so don't wish him away.

The problem is with our squad.  Trying to get a functioning PL team with the players we have is impossible.  It's like trying to make a car with only one wheel and no engine.  He's on a hiding to nothing.

  13. While he isn't really good enough if we want to push on and boy does he seem to frustratingly waste a lot of chances, he is also our top scorer last season, is often involved in the good things we do when we do them and is owed some respect.

He was our least shite striker last season.  He's still properly shite though...
