  1. Was s*** today. Should have been running that midfield fed by Shelvey, but was nowhere to be seen. The couple of times he did get the ball he wasted it with badly executed flicks.

That's where I'm getting confused, I see Shelvey as the playmaker, and Diame as the midfield enforcer whose role is more breaking up opposition play rather than running the show.

That would work too.  The way Shelvey plays, he seems to sit deep and look to give the ball to someone further up to create the chance.  If we had a spoiling CM, Shelvey could push up and play as an advanced playmaker.  It just seems that if Shelvey wants to stay deep, we'd need an AM as an outlet for him, which Diame didn't do today.

Either way, Diame is neither an enforcer or a creator.  He's adding nothing at the minute.

  2. Still wish he would look for simple passes more often.

this is what he's most improved on imo, he used to take the ball and f*** about looking for a hollywood pass...now when he takes the ball generally his head is up and he's looking for a forward pass short or long

I might be wrong, but I can't remember seeing him looking for a return pass. Doesn't ever seem to be involved in quick one-two pass movements, and I think this is a big failing of our side in general for a long time.

The whole concept of pass and move has been foreign to us for over a decade.  The only time I can remember any real one-two passing was when Ben Arfa played and he'd pass the ball to himself.

He looks completely alien in our team at the minute, like an adult playing in a kids team. Today none of the other midfielders offered him anything, so he was reduced to speculative stuff yet again. Would love to see him behind a AM who actually moves into space.

  3. Added absolutely nothing today, despite facing a very poor Southampton side. Didn't put the yards in to try and get the ball, and when it did come to him, had no idea what to do with it. Couldn't beat an egg, let alone a defender.

  4. Defence was solid until last 5 mins when we lost our shape.

Shelvey is our only player with any composure under pressure.

Perez and Diame offered absolutely nothing.

Muto would be a much better 10 than Perez and needs a chance alongside Robson.

Ritchie and Kenedy need to start getting their heads down and running at defenders.

We are desperate for a number 9 who gives an option in the box and we need a CM in front of Shelvey with the vision to actually create chances.

    P.s. it was f-in freezing.

  5. Shola was our fourth choice striker for years and only because a 1st XI player when Ashley came in.

Peak Shola was ten times better than the utter shit we have now though.

A very average player, but at least he sometimes put the ball in the net, something that can't be said for the utter melts playing up front for us now.

  6. It might be minimum wage for shop floor staff in the Mike Ashley sector but not in retail in general, plenty of retailers pay £9-£10 per hour for basic floor staff, and more in London.  So £18-19k a year for basic customer assistants at the likes of M&S or Lidl vs £20k (or upto £20k even...) for a supervisory role at one of this c***s stores.

I get double that so whoever gets that job is half a James.

Nice one mate.  I bet you have a 10 inch dick and holiday at Elevenarife too.

  7. Danish charver, niche.

Wonder if White English Don will be appealing to the evil public sector funded police they’re incapable of playing our reserves given we’ve progressed and they likely will too.

You're going to have to help me out with some of those references man

    White English Don?

    Evil Public Sector funded Police?

    Over my head!  :)

  8. What do people expect for a second rung job?! I'm no Ashley apologist, but you're not going to get super money for one step up from minimum wage.

Also, you pay very little income tax on 20k, so it's not like you'll be starving in the streets.

Net pay around £1400 per month.

Note the ad states you can up to £20,000 per year, which is probably on the proviso of unattainable targets.

If the sum includes a hefty chunk of 'bonuses' that are based on 'moon on a stick' type targets, then that is fundamentally wrong.

£1400 per month is not breadline, but I wouldn't want to have a family and a mortgage on that.

By the way, I deleted my original post, because I didn't want it to come across as a sleight at anyone working in that type of job. In my book, anyone who grafts for a living is a friend in my eyes.

  9. It must be properly painful for Rafa trying to sell this club to potential signings.  We're like a battered 200,000 mile Ford Ka surrounded by brand new Ferraris at the minute.  A club properly in decay.  No hope of ever winning anything; the only reason to come here is to get into the PL shop window and hope for a move to a bigger club like Crystal Palace or Fulham.  Properly wank.

  10. I'm not a fan of the impact Chelsea and Man City have had on football, but there's something especially horrible about PSG and I can't quite put my finger on it.

They damage teams? They took Neymar away from Barcelona and I still can't get over it.

Teams? They damage football. Whenever some stupidly rich f*** rolls up and throws hundreds of millions at a club, it's basically a cheat code.

The PL is like playing multiplayer Championship Manager, but two of the players have cheats turned on and another four teams have won the lottery.  Meanwhile, your game has crashed and you're permanently stuck with £0 for transfers and all your players have turned shit.

  11. the reserves are s*** as well, they got beat off Norwich.

f***s going on at this club man, what a f***ing state we are in

It seems our academy has been toilet for years.  The best we've seen in the last decade is Dummett. There are tons of examples of Geordies who stayed well away from our academy and turned into great players.
