  1. Playing in the right would make so much difference to his game imo.
  2. Feel for the guy. His story arc is a bit tragic tbh. Gone from being our most important and popular player to our biggest liability and it's not necessarily his fault either. Can't fault his application at all but it's clear that he's got weaknesses in his game that are bring exposed by Howe's footballing philosophy and so far they're outweighing his strengths.
  3. Aye I thought he was very good tbf, but I just felt there was not as much urgency to get the ball from the defenders like there is with Bruno and times where he did, he'd take the easy option rather than what Bruno would do and turn out to open up play more and it was those little things which made the biggest differences imo.
  4. Rewatched the game and felt it was the middle where we came up short even though they all played well. As much as I like Longstaff and felt he would be suitable for that role at the base of the midfield, I cant quite help but think it's the little things he can't do which make the biggest impact on the rest of the team, such as his inability to beat a man and open up more angles or him only really playing the way he was facing - just little things like that can stifle how the rest of the team perform imo and it showed yesterday.
  5. I wanted to see him out wide a bit more because Dan Burn was seeing far too much of the ball in the final 3rd.

    Joelinton

He needs to be at the base of midfield and Longstaff back to his normal role - always making himself available and looks for the ball, tidy interplay in tight areas and most importantly is press proof. Was excellent today.
  7. Man Utd had Bruno man marked at Old Trafford and we weren't as fluid as a result. They'll be watching this game and knowing it's the right strategy.
  8. 6/10 for me Really happy with Gordon and with Trippier being so influential and important for us on the right it's great they've added a player of seemingly identical profile but can't get my head round why we left ourselves short up front and in midfield. I get a permanent transfers might be off the table but surely a loan would be risk free and preferable to someone filling in a gap that's not natural to them eg ASM up front
  9. I think this signing has gone under the radar in how transformational could be for us. Winger who gonna press and be able to offer all the qualities Willock does defensively but an extra edge up top that someone like ASM gives us. Also, said this before but he reminds me of Heung-min Son.
  10. He's been lambasted for his poor finishing which isn't an unfair criticism but the what's been forgotten is him getting in those positions with the regularity he has is a skill in itself. If he improves his composure in front of goal he becomes a key player, irrespective of his other weaknesses.
  11. That's a massive difference commercially, which is the ultimate prize in the long run. Young striker on loan makes a lot of sense.
  12. Gone quiet on the striker front and with Shelvey going it's probably fair to say we realistically need at least 2 more signings through the door after Ashby.
  13. Just purely off his YouTube vids, he reminds me of Son.
  14. Sure they'll be a loan in the mix, don't believe we're done at all
  15. Can see us going after him this window. He's clearly been a long term target even before CL was possibility so I'm sure the club will be thinking it's the type of transfer then would be happy to expedite in light of our current position.
  16. Guys been credibly linked with some top clubs, it's a steep price but I'm sure he's gonna be a top drawer signing.
  17. Still pinching myself. Everytime I read about us being in competition with another club for another player, the pessimism that Ashley conditioned me to have kicks in and I internally accept we'll have to move on but then I remind myself that we've already signed a player of higher calibre in Isak, so why not?
  18. Still think freeing up Bruno has to be key. He's shackled by the fact he needs to be disciplined with his positioning. Give him the freedom to dictate play further forward and the front 3 will thrive.
  19. Hypotehtical scenario - but would you go for 2nd/3rd choice who's avaialble now or 1st choice who is available in Summer? I wonder if that's dilemma the club are facing now
  20. It's one of those things I've always felt never felt the need to comment on but I guess it boils down to what you class as a 'good quality chance'. For me a specualtive cross into the box, whilst clearly an obviously successfull strategy, it's not my definition of a good quality chance in comparison to one crafted in the same way Almiron's 2nd at Fulham came about or Isaks debut goal vs Liverpool. We're brilliant at pinning in teams 20 yards from their goal and putting in speculative crosses but there's very little imagination through the centre because players like Longstaff and Willock don't quote have as much vision as the likes of Bruno. Also don't agree it's right to assume a number 6 is purely defensive minded. A Neves type number 6 is not by definition a box to box type midfield nor defensive but his passing range is critical to the way Wolves play, and whilst we've been excellent defensively it's largely because of how high up the pitch we win the ball and that's driven largely from our midfielders, we shouldn't compromise on that, which I beleive Howe feels the same on as he's clearly not trusting ASM despite him being one of our most creative players.
  21. Number 6 for me. Quality of posession in the final 3rd needs to be better and pushing Bruno into his best position would do that. I personally think the problems not with our abilty to create chances but the quality of chances we create - a player with a little more imagination and vision would improve that imo.
