  1. Its a foul ON Joelinton if anything, Saka goes down of his own volition whilst Jo played the ball and buckles after because of Saka's contact. Also a yellow for the dive. If were going to be Artetaish about it.
  2. Not looked at any of that data but I've a lot of matches from the 90s where its little different and in fact on one game Richard Keys described the ball as being in play for 61minutes as 'that's good' so can't be much in it. All that's changed is us.
  3. They didn't do enough as a league leading team at home to deserve to win. When you watch the highlights in isolation away from the nerves of the heat of the moment some of their's are nothing chances really, a mis-header looping harmlessly wide as opposed a wild scramble in the box and the the crossbar and post saving us. Wonder if deep down that's the source of their OTT frustration.
  4. You'd never get his Villa doing that. Zero shots, time wasting from the off and a 4-0 mauling at SJP a few month back wasn't it?
  5. Nah that wasn't him, it was the Arsenal fan hosting the next show that said that. Edwards was reasonable....on this and not exonerated in the slightest. They all were really. Just the Arsenal wanker (the host not Arteta)
  6. Tone is completely the opposite on Five Live. Ian Dennis "they restricted Arsenal to very few clear chances" Kelly Cates "it wasn't a game they (Newcastle) felt like they were on the back foot in"
  7. Very reminiscent of beating them 3-1 under Sir Bobby, was all about their sending off, nevermind it was 1-1 when Bellamy got sent off just to even things up. Bellamy's red wasn't even mentioned in the rag at work the next day. Just heard Arteta on the wireless, the interviewer sounded flabagasted at him 'you're that angry/sure?!' - went quiet and the interviewer said 'you're nodding' ....I thought he was Jim McCleaning him
  8. The effort and dredging what we do with what we have humbles me.
  9. That'll do Cant expect to go there and boss it, only way to get results against better teams are to do that (like Leeds did to us) otherwise you just give points out and not bother with the game. It'll be the same at Man City. Its only natural and in a few years these will do that to us and celebrate a point at SJP
  10. Wilson could be very tired and its all hands on deck. Murphy will offer cover and workrate that ASM wont. For the same reason. He's obvioiusly not doing it based on ability.
  11. The referee, their play acting and Arteta behaving like a tit has caused this to go like this. Were playing their game.
  12. Philippe AlSchar. He stormed the length of the pitch and won a pen against them though.
  13. They did use it all the time for Warlord and Bulldog too. Davey off the ropes, they collide neither moves, does it again same. Third time ducks the clothesline then hits the dropkick or flying tackle. 'Its not real' someone would informed me at the time. yeah No shit.
  14. Homes of Football esque some of those pictures and the atmosphere Yorkie.
  15. Do we go Sheffield Wed? Seems not the sort of game I'd bring him in for. Will be a massive jolt if he starts the Leicester game (up for that already ffs)
  16. Was rather hoping we'd have something extra for the two cup ties. Especially with three competitions on the go. Just cant shake the all hands on deck feel and nervousness about suspensions and injuries. Margins are fine at this vantage point.
  17. I'm the opposite. Before it was just a write off and a 3-0 defeat was routine and anything less a bonus. Now it stings to lose. I mean I'm still bitter about the one game we have lost if last night was anything to go by. Likewise can't wait though. Got league-cup Quarter-Finals in 96 feel about it. Hope ASM doesn't get sent-off for being fouled like Ginola that night though I'm sure the commentary will be similarly biased. Speaking of bitter.
  18. It was. You'd have different areas singing even the same song slightly out of sync with each other and as one area/we finished the punctuated silence at the end would be filled by the Gallowgate and Milburn finishing like an echo. At least vary up the versions of the Blaydon Races. I'd rather listen to "to see Matt Busby's aces" than the one he uses.
  19. Just wish people would get a grip and accept this. Has and will happen to everyone.
  20. That Jo miss seals it for me. The crossroad between finally scoring and destined not to.
  21. Pet hates: people moaning about the team and players when where not winning by half-time when were having a great season.
  22. They had bother at the Rotherham away game last season, wasn't someone's daughter or neice hit with a coin the mackems were throwing at their fellow Mag hating bretheren? Wonder which of the eight games we've played against Rotherham in the last sixty years caused this deep rooted hatred the poster with a Newcastle fan in his avatar and clearly not obsessively biased at all is making up mentioning. *didn't even know these were playing...again.
  23. Ah man. Just popped on to see if there were any updates on transfer speculation and injuries and saw this. Truly sad. Cliche to say it but I palpably feel the loss to the game of him, Diego and Cruyff.
  24. When we were what they are now 90-92 a middling second tier club with no prospects, we expected to lose players to clubs like Forest, Derby, West Ham and first division clubs because they were doing better, for all our attendances (an all time low) were comparable and games against them were bigger than normal games. The tone around the place matched what we were. Even when we were instilled as favourites to get promoted in 91/92 the fanbase scoffed at it. There was a feeling of 'why can't we do that' but it was even considered a success to keep Gavin Peacock from moving to Middlesbrough because of the then climate.
  25. Yeah, they use their exceptional gates as the rule, despite themselves noting them for their exceptional nature. X amount to Wembley, X amount to Man City for a relegation game, X amount against Blackburn and disregard the rule, having a half empty stadium for every game leading to Wembley, getting 20,000 the week before against Arsenal averaging 21,000 over the season and about 25,000 against West Brom in the previous home game. Bending the concept of exceptions and rules so that it works for them
