  1. Its about fucking off time for the long suffering Arsenal fans by my watch
  2. First time I've seen that, since the time at least. Be interesting to know. Spookily similar to Keegan at Charlton having a pop at reporting "you know the fella that wrote that..." then storming off. Also gone soon after.
  3. Chris Woods possibly. Sheffield Wed got towsed 6 off Leeds and 7 at Arsenal 91/92 - presume he was playing. Was England's number one at the time.
  4. Hate that but its always the case with the exception of Highbury, all those old grounds, all that history replaced by the least creative stuff imaginable.
  5. Seen a Spurs vlog that was complimentary of it to, not just Saturday but generally. Its actually not difficult to come across opinions like that. The West Ham defender and interviewer the other week were talking about it. They're probably comparing it to other places they experience currently rather than memories of a handful of years and a different world 30years ago.
  6. Clubs way too professionally managed for complacency to creep in. I'd never think a game was won at 1-0 so zero chance Eddie Howe does. It just one of those things in football where the team that deserves to win on many occasions doesn't.
  7. Nobody else sell anybody back then like?
  8. First year he won the league he spent more than anybody else. A year later signed Henry and Davor Suker, a year after that Pires and Wiltord a year after that spent £30m - more than double what the team that finished behind them (Liverpool) did and they probably made a profit due to selling Fowler. They established themselves the same way anybody else did, don't kid yourself. How its okay for Wenger and others to break up what Monaco build but not okay for Man City to do that to Arsenal? Because Campbell was free it was alright to take their local rivals captain the way they did?
  9. Which bit. We were going to overhaul Man United or Arsenal who weren't sharing the league between them every season? or the bit where Wenger/Arsenal didn't grow these players out of test-tubes but took them from other clubs with less money?
  10. The clubs Wenger took those players from were building something until he steamed in. But in 02/03 despite being next in line, the next most regular CL qualifier and having a bigger ground than Arsenal there was no hope of passing either them or Man United. It was a closed shop that only Chelsea through Abramovic's money and City through their money prised open. Liverpool might never have gotten a look in had the dominance of Man United/Arsenal not been watered down by new competitors.
  11. Lot of that going around. Noted that my mucker Aiston didn't contribute anything today expect a typically negative post pre-match about needing to score 6 to win. Cant stop from telling everyone how shit we are individually and collectively when there's a sniff of not winning. Sums up our performance really when he's tongue tied/otherwise conveniently engaged.
  12. Scandalous that. Just on the football alone it was bad enough ridiculous penalty against given by both ref and var, much less ridiculous penalty given to them then taken away from them for the exact same thing the first was awarded for.
  13. So quick to give/not give the pen/non-pen - both warranted further inspection the first a thorough VAR one but this c(nt knew at first glance.
  14. Might have known it would be that exile creep. Repeating the same thing multiple times every time we win fits nicely with the image of someone who posts exclusively and obsessively about us has created - the sort of nutter that would honestly believe what he's saying.
  15. Fuck me, can you believe these jammy c*nts
  16. I'm wary of preserving the pecking order being passed off like its a good thing when as far as I can tell until now fans of every other club would love to see the established elite fall from grace, changes and resented and mocked protections given to Real Madrid, Juventus etc. and leagues where the same clubs are at the top and are unmoveable. Trying to pass it off as a virtue now.
  17. Its not just that they're nearly always second best in their games but its the margin by how much they are second best. This game should be over and they should be bottom half
  18. These two stories bring home how arbitrary and convenient it is. Everton were a bigger club than half that top6 until the PL era and bigger than Liverpool for most of the time before that but now have to at the absolute best make up the numbers because they didn't think to pull up the draw-bridge when part of the big5 (or whatever it was called) in the 80s. Musical chairs nature of it feels outrageous.
  19. They've not threatened the 40000 capacity enough to justify any more until very recently over those 30years. Its been a ground that's rarely been filled historically rather than rarely unfilled. Was regularly empty spaces visibly in the 90s-04 PL run. As this is the Sunderland thread, Leeds support historically probably isn't on Sunderland's level so they ought to really carry the same vibe. I always thought of them as a big club because they were when I got into football but their history is surprisingly stark and gates surprisingly unimpressive.
  20. But there's nothing weird at all in relentlessly slagging off the team you're supposed to support - on the cusp of two wins and a draw in a week against fellow mid-table sides with a massive injury crisis - actually just the relentless slagging off in any circumstance is wanky
  21. Thought it might be, and he's his team mates and the manager are shit right? 1-0 get it reeeet up ya
  22. The relentless slagging off of the team and manager on here whenever we don't win AND play well, because one or the other isnt enough for many, convinces me every game about what the problem is. There's been an increasing higher proportion of that sort of 'support' at games for decades now that is more a problem than any stadium contours or sitting/standing. Can you imagine a time when we'd be top of half of the top flight in ridiculous circmstances with injuries where there'd be this much moaning that its not enough?
  23. Level away from home with an injury crisis but not playing well definitely a pitchforks out situation
