Arsenal fans walked out en masse because their side which is going down to the wire for the title and is currently top of the league, were losing a game. Considering its as near as they've been to winning the title in a generation its probably entitled. And hardly a new thing for them. The celebrated winning the FA Cup against us in 98 the way we'd celebrate winning a regular run of the mill game in undeserved fashion. They were getting gates as low as 16 and 17,000 after falling short for the title in the 80s, again when it was the closest they had been in a generation.

Since its mostly season ticket based these days, there shouldn't be any drop off even if there's nothing to play for. The figures they give might be "tickets distributed" rather than tickets sold but either way its suss and insecure to give an attendance as that rather than what everyone else does and count the people through the turnstiles - which is the point of turnstiles from what I can see.

I don't/didn't even want us to do a Man City/Chelsea (was happy doing what we were) but all this stuff is madness
-
Tell you what it is mind, its boring as fuck and I'm glad I lived through normal transfer windows with romance instead of this turgid dreck
-
Exactly. They're not bothered about widening the gap if those behind them are hobbled. Its about maintaining the gap.
-
Leeds averaging 36,000 make x3 per match what the mackems who get 40,000+ do. Quite an achievement.
-
iirc Middlesbrough were 2nd behind us at Christmas in 95/96.

8 8 couple draws, cant tell which two but if one of them isn't at Old Trafford I'll be well pleased -
90/91 - the mackems had finished 6th and lost in the play-off final the year before but got promoted due to Swindon's problems, relegation was reduced to two teams and they still managed to get relegated. Fkn hell, shit as they were/are, they're lucky to even have that.

Its funny cos even before they were rich and just a scratty southern Middlesbrough or something I sitll hated everything about them
-
That's nee good like, deserved though. Villa have been shoite
-
Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if they lost the next one (Spurs)
-
Yeah. Villa have been mightily unimpressive.
-
Chelsea actually warrant at least a goal back for a change

Reminds me of a Blackburn game under Sir Bobby. Same score and wasn't pretty until we ran riot in the end -
They'll not be allowed to compete and will be forced to make up the numbers unfortunately whatever will they have. A tragedy really.
-
If they got rid of the 70% turnover rule and kept the x5 the lowest income rule I could go along with that. It would do what they claim to want - stops exponential growth and widening of the gap, keeps whoever is willing to pay it within reach of the red clubs. What it wouldn't do is what they really want - preserve their places at the table by holding down ourselves, Villa and any future versions. Seems basically a spend limit and checks on whether clubs can operate through the rest of the season financially solidly is all that's needed but for that again doesn't protect the entitleds, never known to be behind a rule that didn't completely benefit them
-
Got to wonder if the price hikes for fans across the board are as high and across the board as they are without FFP. That there is no beneficiaries other than the cunt clubs tells the story.

Is the FA PL cup in America not lucrative friendlies? Oh well, better just get back to playing lower league sides away and games in Scotland for all of us. Or is it just us
-
I wouldn't follow it now if I was starting over. Its the level of change at present and the level of greed and/or incompetence that figure-heads it. Its almost always change for the worse and unromantic. I don't remember the game being in dire need of these or any sweeping changes 10years ago.

Just heard about this. Absolutely gutted for them. Makes the whole season and their indefinite future a waste of time which will cost a small club valuable cash. From the brink of non-existence to nearly getting into the football league, what a story, in steps the football authorities. Gateshead denied access to the football league on a stadium technicality at a time Manchester United are angling for a free stadium.
-
Possibly, if you totally leave out context

There's no question Man City will be far, far better than them in the final but pretty much every week whoever they play is far, far better than them and they get away with it constantly. Even the last few times we've beat them in the league they've got away with a flattering defeat and the games been alive long after a stuffing should have been occuring.
