  1. Heard it was a record window of spending. Wasn't PSR/FFP supposedly brought in to bring down transfer fees and wages (as well as ticket price, to make things more competitive and stop clubs getting into trouble) Been a massive fail in what it was supposed to achieve. The only thing it has succeeded in is protecting indefinitely the super league clubs from challengers. Almost as if that was the what it was for all along. more people seem to be coming around to that at least.
  2. As its Liverpool I'm sure there'll be no hurry to close loopholes and prevent it happening again. Cant have the cartel not being allowed to tap up, unsettle and drive down prices of players of the farm clubs
  3. I gather its okay for Liverpool to buy success because they have previously bought success so its okay, or some load of shit.
  4. They say thats what Liverpool did for decades, win the league then siign the best player from the vulnerable clubs and carry on. Dominated for 20years and in the meantime English football sunk to its lowest ebb. In the name of competition we've recreated that.
  5. £30m to a German club as well, not as flush as us. Makes Wolves feel within their rights to ask £60m for JSL.
  6. Agreed. We were braced for this had we not qualified in the CL anyway and surely we all know the way football is now. There was no PSR back then, no need to sell Cole and not even murmurings about doing so, was one of those you could not believe when you heard it.
  7. Been bright and sunny but just now distinctly clouded over to what's surely going to be rain. Changeable. Fits the day well.
  8. That's cracking money for Osula like. Gonna need a back up forward though and cant be hard to find someone that'd be better if were honest and that's all were looking for.
  9. Cant think of anything I'd less want to see than that. Problem with all this is there's no revenge for us. The elite can treat other clubs like shit and we cant come back at them. Feels an absolute mugs game.
  10. Player goes on strike costs a club at least 5points and £20m but he's going to Liverpool so he's a true pro if not salt of earth, a hero of sorts really.

    Yoane Wissa

Mentioned months back that deals tend to get done towards the end of the synthetically set window now rather than in time to start the season but was reassured otherwise so none of this can be happening.
  12. We'd already lost him. This way we get some money but unfortunately he goes to Liverpool. But he was gone somewhere even if it was on strike.
  13. Probably only happened a million times in the history of football and is basically nature. Stuttgart aren't replacing Woltermade with someone similar or better, we didn't replace Gazza with better but did well out of the Carroll sale as Spurs and Villa did well out of the sales of Bale and Grealish. The less rich club has is preyed upon by the richer club and isn't going to replace like for like or else why would the sale have happened in the first place. They have to make it work other ways like strengthening the squad. Wolves were sniffing at someone from Belgium should they lose JSL they weren't going to get a more expensive/better player in cos they're prey to us.
  14. Folk are just angry and emotional. Got to blame someone and its hard to accept the cold light of day straight forward answer (that you've stated) so we get willful confusion and conspiracy. I'd be mad myself, wasn't happy when we sold Cole, but 100% understand this like I'd have understood that if Cole refused to play and we sold him for a million less. It'd still be bullshit on Cole/Man United's part but I'd not be dKeegan and SJH's resignation I'd be blaming Ferguson's behaviour and the player and wanting the authorities to do something about it. *that and that there is not an abundance of strikers anymore to pick plentiful replacements from
  15. I'm not remotely confused by any of it. Been slating for years how bad PSR is and what it was going to lead to and this is exactly the sort of thing I feared. The 6 hoovering up everybody they want and everybody they want being tempted to go because only the 6 can offer big money. Couldn't be clearer. alexf is right, this isn't standing up to Nelson Muntz and showing you wont be bullied, this is a business having 125m for literally fuck all for all the good Isak was going to be for us, or having less than that next summer with a less years on his contract and maybe a year of not playing or playing half-arsed at best behind him. Without PSR they probably tell them to get fucked but nobody can do that now.
  16. So the club is deliberately doing this and is in no way forced to by PSR rules and a striking player and if there was no PSR and Isak was saying he was happy to stay the same scenario would have unfolded?
  17. We've been shafted by Liverpool and Isak....and sky and the like wont bat an eyelid. Newcastle buying top players is wrong. Liverpool colluding with a player to sabotage and rip off another club (within a PSR world) just fine. Where football is and was for me can be summed up with this. In the 90s what Isak and Liverpool have done would be considered a disgrace 'tapping up' was considered bad then. Now because of who has done it, it will be just fine. Its about as unfair play as you can get financially.
  18. qualifying for the CL hasn't done us no good releative to competing with the top clubs its now irrelavent as a tool to achieve that
  19. Thought PSR was to stop clubs doing a Leeds not make Leicester and Villa do a Leeds despite having no financial difficulty. Its already hurt more clubs than its helped, the load of fucking shit that it is.
  20. purely down to psr, their wages to turnover ratio was the worst in the league, they've got money but cant spend it and have lost all momentum and the means to bring it back
  21. Probably going to be the flattest fans in the country the Villa fans. Nothing to look forward to but managed decline and focussing on the cups when they should have been on the up and growing.
  22. Finding Minteh and bringing through Anderson wasn't organic enough apparently, can only be done if selling purples in the interests of fairness
  23. A journalist, mouth hardly moving when talking, supporting Liverpool = nuclear arrogance
