  1. Dalglish made a net loss of 11m in transfers and spent 33m in 19month. Not sure about money drying up. Keegan paid for Ginola, Huckerby, Hislop, Barton and Ferdinand with Cole, Nielson, Mathie, Venison, Fox, Sellars and others and moved us forward. In 97/98 Wenger took Arsenal past us (and everybody else) spending the same amount as Dalglish (17m)
  2. Certainly contradicts the recent rewriting of history pushed by Shearer amongst others that Blackburn did a Leicester.
  3. Aye. Tomasson, Andersson and Guivarch combined cost well more than we got for Ferdinand and for us they were all atrocious. Des Hamilton cost the same as we got for Ginola. Pistone a ton more the Beresford and Elliott were sold for combined. That's all on the manager not the PLC
  4. What!? We went from challenging for the title to being on the brink of a relegation battle the following Easter. Barnsley was a must win and we only did so with a dodgy late goal. And we played the most boring football along the way with players being told off for going over the halfway line. Based on what he did for us he's easily one of the worst. But unlike Souness at least had achievements elsewhere but the drop of under Sourness was nowhere near as bad as Dalglish. Keegan made a profit in 1995 and improved us. Dalglish spent a lot of money mostly terribly whatever he brought in.
  5. Yes, I remember that. But he was basically finished after 92/93 and a disaster at Bayern Stoichkov too according to a Euro 96 report and Stoichkov himself.
  6. Like when the other team gets fatigued. We played better yesterday mostly because of the introduction of fresh legs from the bench I thought, the overall team performance wasn't really there just Almiron then Tino's verve
  7. Wonder if these draws are unprecedented in their shitness. Man United got Man City away followed by Liverpool away one year in R3 and R4 - but the other cup draws were piss easy (League Cup: 3rd tier Leeds, 4th tier Aldershot, championship Crystal Palace and in the CL Benfica, Basel and Galati)
  8. So watching them beating Bury 2-1 in the League Cup in a half-empty stadium for a tenner the night before we beat Barcelona was the better fan experience as neither of us won the respective competitions both games were a complete waste of time and money but at least I'd have saved £20.
  9. They got beat off Crewe and they're calling out Fulham and Blackburn away! Mind technically they're shitter than Crewe so I wont argue with them on the point they were an easy draw.
  10. I did enjoy the scoffing at Shearer's suggestion that we'd had tough cup draws this season "Sunderland, Fulham and Blackburn" its so them, just ignoring the other six games were Chelsea, Man United, Man City, PSG, Milan and Dortmund Imagine the temerity to think we get difficult draws when only two thirds of them have been against the biggest clubs in the world, and a third of the others away at a PL a team
  11. Its not untypical to get one of those in a cup-run. How many times did we go out undeservedly - we survived Stevenage by the skin of our teeth on the way to the final in 98 and the win at Everton was an abomonation.
  12. The star next to our logo means the match was drawn but and the 2 was based on the pen shoot out win - in flashscore speak
  13. Honourable mention there for JDT. This is like nearly every game that season. Just need Almiron on for the Ketsbaia role in the last 20.
  14. Third manager in as many months to get booed off at half-time.
  15. Getting absolutely mullered apparently. Lucky to be only two.
  16. Claiming to be massive because of a TV series is oxymoronic. I admire how they can ignore it not manifesting or cutting through in any way whatsoever though. Its like being envious of someone getting exposure on embarassing bodies.
  17. Its absurd to do to Manchester United exactly what Brighton did to us regarding the very same individual barely less than two year ago entirely within our rights to do with someone under contract? Or absurd to do it to Manchester United/Sir Jim Ratcunt?
  18. Its not just that but the toxicity if they don't OVER achieve is brutal and with FFP there is less to work with there than before and for the most part the best before ever got was just surviving relegation every year. The last time their fans were placated was when Drumville spend fortunes and Short followed it up by subsidising them. Neither could happen now.
  19. Sheffield United and Burnley are at least entertaining in a car-crash sort of way. Sheffield United are reminiscent of Swindon who were a hoot. Palace and Everton just reek of a drab game and occasion all round. Like pre Matthew Harding Chelsea v pre Matthew Harding Chelsea
  20. Going back as far as Bruce only Mowbray (by 6%) and O'Neill (by less than 2%) have a better win percentage in the top two divisions for them. A string of managers getting the same basic results doesn't seem a coincidence. This is what they are and what they have been for generations. Its hardly like its out of order for them to do pretty much what everyone else has in living memory.
