No following January. He was terrible under Dalglish to be brutally honest too. Until Gullit came he'd have been in the bad signing pile with 90% of the other ones.

Definitely brought in to save the likes of Bury these rules like. It might stop us supplanting the usual suspects who themselves supplanted others but the real beneficiaries of that will be Sutton and Newport.
-
When they gave us 6-8k tickets in 2006 that had to inconvenience by their logic thousands of fans because they're so well and loyally supported but in reality maybe only a few hundred since they only got over 40k twice that season. Was less home fans at that game than our intertoto/preseason game under Souness at the start of that season. Never heard hide nor hair about their match thread. Be interested to see if that spenk Roker Mackem watched it since he brands everyone that makes a football related comment about us or watches our games as being 'sportswashed'.

I'm now wondering how it is for the Milan derby and how it was when many teams had the same generic kit just different colours. France, Bulgaria, Finland and Sweden all had the exact same Adidas (Liverpool 91-93) kits in the same World Cup Qualifying group once. Southampton/Villa/Coventry's strips in the late 80s was the same strip when there'd have been some black and white TV's kicking around. Depending on the designs in our games I think quite a few people are at least initially taken aback by similarities. I'm for home shirts if we win. So there's no pretending it wasn't them at SJP and no pretending it was someone else at their place.

So it should be. He was there a lot longer. Won everything with them and didn't sing songs about Ferguson when he left. Many of our fans dont like him.

FA Cup Fourth Round Draw - Fulham (a) on 27/01/24 @ 7pm (Live on ITV4)

Were on a run in the fixture of late but they still feel awkward to me, so mixed is our record there, at home even against them too. Not saying we'll win but at least can go in with confidence. -
General NUFC stuff: club crest to be changed (Official)

Happened years ago to be fair, it was only Ashley's rank cheapness that reeled it in. Everything that's being said now was being said 20years back. -
The intro to Italia 90, my first World Cup, on ITV had a football spinning around and the icons of previous world cup on the panels: Charlton, Pele, Beckenbauer, Cruyff, Rossi, Maradona and we've lost them all in a head-spinningly short space of time

With their Formula 1 connections, could be a new Lister Storm in our future.
-
That sounds like a future UEFA format for something. Not quite sure what that means but we've been in the topflight more despite the headstart and then you've got their 5years in the third tier where we were two divisions ahead

Putting a strong tackle in on 17year old Miley with the game lost, trying to rev up the fans nearby straight after and lunging at but getting completely skinned by Isak leading to a penalty is a hat-trick of examples of great play to them.

There's a proporition of them fixated on Newcastle first and foremost and their orientation towards Sunderland is based around that. The type that only go or care about derbies or cup finals and tend not to go from my experience at work and school. The majority that go or went regularly that I've encountered aren't RTG-esque and would probably distance themselves from it. The nextdoor neighbour is RTG esque unfortunately. Only been known to celebrate (literally had a party) beating us and celebrate Man United beating us in the cup final.
-
"They fielded their best team today and on stats beat us less than 2 nil" Winning comprehensively on stats is all that really counts.
-
There was only 6,000 more there today than when the place looks half empty. Officially. Really weird that six-on-a-row business, I mean singing it at the end, not the disproportinate fixation on it I've never heard any other set of fans have. They used to do the same thing with '2-1' gestures years after the fact and straight after we'd just beat them again. You'd never be about to lose to them and sing about the 6wins and 2draws in a row from 01-08 or winning the last game at Roker or being the first to win one at the stadium now. They'll be dragging up the 9-1 without it probably.

actual 73 - battered from pillar to post but clung on for a famous win The spirit of 73 - lose to their rivals and quit

Aye. Not at all a toys out the pram reaction again.

Don't think were back or anything and played within ourselves with the game won, which is right choice given the circumstances. A cruise really rather than the massacre it might have been at 2-0 after 46minutes earlier this season or last season. Job done in a manner to which we were accustomed last season though - total control, giving no chances away - cant hurt - and whilst its an exclamation point on the chasm to us the taking away of their precious dwindling clutched smalltime straws is a nice bit of cruelty.
-
Not world class but remember Jimmy Carter and Chris Allen giving our fullbacks torrid times. Carter ended up going to both Liverpool and Arsenal but barely kicking a ball and Allen got a move from Oxford to Forest 3 1/2 years later. I now have a suspicion Venison might have been pissed that game as it was 48hours after promotion at Grimsby.

His best window and arguably two best and most important signings Robert and Bellamy were reportedly second choices behind Jeffers and Zenden who both tanked. Whilst we slept at the wheel with Southgate waiting to come.

FA Cup Third Round: sunderland (A) 06/01/24 @ 12:45 - Live on ITV

Hate how this doesn't feel like the 05/06 1-4 game ahead of time to me when it should. They were going down with record low points, we were top half, had won the first game and their stadium was a third empty - probably why so many stayed away was because the could only score a pride and token battle win with the war well and truly lost. Its even more in our favour now and damn! I'm not assuaged at all. Guess its the cup element. -

They did that with DiCanio. Withdrawing flags, complaining at the owner, citing his fascist tendencies. Didn't matter after he beat us and pro DiCanio graffiti popped up on my way to work by the afternoon of the next day. Not that they're trying to repeat history like a tried and tested ritual, its just what they seem to do at least once every season. -
I've seen better Newcastle teams than this look absolutely toothless without a genuine striker up top even though the player there was Rob Lee. Albeit Blackburn a year before they won the league and Monaco in 97 (Henry et al) were of a slightly higher standard than the current mackems

Just want to sleep through this c*nt and have it feel like a historical result....even if we win, its not worth the angst just to subdue them. Working backshift right through the Ashley era that happened a couple times and it was much nicer. Have no interest in rubbing their noses in it should that happen, given the chasm between the two clubs it just seems wrong. Simply playing in a higher league ticked all those boxes. Got Wigan Man City vibes. -
Doesn't look like he has come back from injury the way he's played.

Could say that about nearly every derby of the last 40years. Probably been less than a handful of games that weren't poor spectacles.
