The combination of this stuff from the likes of him and Botman vs the marketing campaign that's presenting this image of what it means to support a football club ala the Bobby Robson quote are really at odds like

Yeah this is just about where I am. I wonder how different this would all present as without the really public misses with certain players and us instead just calmly signing Woltemade, Thiaw, Ramsdale without this summer and last summer's noise around our number 1 targets. Not sure on the rest but the player 1 of the players who openly hates doing media work (from someone I'm extremely close to who's done media work with the club a lot) sounds exactly like Botman.

Edwards account explains why it might be seen as weak, Caulkin's too. In fact PIF's own reported account in both mentions their concern on it - that it looks weak and sets a precedent. They also capitulated on their word. The account also mentions Howe and Reuben standing firm while PIF didn't.
