Is there precedent for this? Trying to think of other times clubs have had brilliant seasons followed by a spectacularly bad transfer window despite having plenty of funds available. I can think of plenty where teams have been ransacked and profited on players after doing well, but nothing like this.

I'm at the laughing about it stage. Haven't had this for a long while.

PL proven experience over 'risk' even when the only thing they've proven to be is shite

Just gonna keep batting sorry. The context is that he's our ~5th choice option and Brentford don't need to (and probably can't) sell now that they've been gutted. I don't by any means automatically believe Ben Jacobs but I've never believed that this will happen anyway for the reasons mentioned.

Yeah, it actually reminds me of some of the interactions I had when I had a mass clearout a couple of years ago.

I'm actually fine with this, I think we all saw that happening a mile off.
-
Wahey Well hopefully we do the same with Isak now.

And so thank Christ for Sam Dalling, who wrote an article about Sebastian Bassong not a moment too soon.

They've sold loads of their players, that's their way of skinning the same cat.

I do yeah, because we didn't meet the selling club's valuations. Every other club isn't in on this conspiracy.

...that was rejected ...that was rejected ...that was far, far too late ...that took forever and no one else wanted to sign, but fair play it got done.

Too right. Cut your cloth accordingly

Just a reminder that if we sold him to Liverpool, they also signed our fucking replacement. I've said that comparisons with Ashley are ridiculous previously, which they are, but my opinion of their football acumen will absolutely plummet if we sell to not just a rival, but a rival that bought our replacement. I doubt it would ever recover tbh.

None. Selling him to Liverpool is absolutely unacceptable in any scenario.

They immediately stumped up when there was the threat that our pursuit of Wissa might scupper their Mbeumo deal.

Most clubs don't keep failing at it and putting themselves in more and more perilous positions as a direct result I would imagine.
