I would like to apologise for everything I've ever said about big Jam, he was absolutely brilliant last night.

It's never happened before and it finally happened in an iconic goal, I'm absolutely going to show off about it

Honestly sounded like Carragher was a sentence away from saying "...and I'll tell you something Mean Gene"

I cannot even begin to tell you how sensational that was. I only came for the Champions League anthem and to see us compete. I left with a 4-1 win against one of the best teams around having seen Jamal Lascelles emasculate Kylian fucking Mbappe as just one of the smaller stories in a richer tapestry where Trippier was perfect, Schär was undeniable and should never ever be underappreciated again, Bruno reminded everyone of who he is, Tonali for all his hiccups brought a sense of been-there-done-that to our midfield, Miggy worked his arse off and was so direct, Gordon worked hard but was up against raw pace, Longstaff took his game to the highest level and made it work, likewise Burn, and Anderson saw the match as his stage and shone. None of that does any of it justice, I've been in a dream, incredulous, laughing my tits off for the last hour. Pope: 6.5 Trippier: 10 Lascelles: 10 Schär: 10 Burn: 10 Bruno: 9.5 Tonali: 7.5 Longstaff: 9 Almiron: 9 Isak: 7.5 Gordon: 7.5 Anderson: 8 The best match I've ever been to. Fair play to the PSG fans, it sounded like them and their drum had been mic'd up by Steve Albini, but they also didn't react to anything, their show went on without any regard for what was happening on the pitch and they also inadvertently pumped up the home crowd who seemed to take it as a point of pride that they were at times noisier than us. The drum really was great though tbf. A magical night, I'll never forget it.

It's like something that would only have happened on The Hurricanes.

It's a pet hate of mine when they talk about VAR and say 'we don't want to be re-refereeing the game' despite that being the exact purpose of VAR.

It's times like these that working in town is a godsend -
I think it does matter. There's a difference between a 'wrong', often subjective decision being made and a correct decision that's, objective and factual not being communicated properly, then the laws of the game prohibiting officials from doing anything about it once the opposition kick off. I do think that is unprecedented, at least of those that we know about. It's got so bad that even the correct VAR decisions aren't safe from itself and its bureaucracy. Our Championship pen was terrible, but these examples shouldn't be in competition with each other, they should be combined to make the point that standards aren't good enough. It just seems daft to be making a 'boo hoo, everyone's been fucked by VAR' point rather than a 'yeah you're right, everyone's been fucked by VAR' one imo. Not to mention that Championship deicsion was pre-VAR and one of the many examples of why there was a clamour for it in the first place. I think it's proportionate tbh, what happened was completely unacceptable. The fact it's Liverpool has put more of a spotlight on it than say Brighton vs Spurs last year, but that's good as far as I'm concerned. For one it's about time they were affected by it, and secondly maybe we need for the media darlings to get fucked over in order for things to improve for everyone at an accelerated rate. I mean Klopp's a dick and a lot of people have a hard on for hating Liverpool, which is fair enough, I'm no different when it comes to Man United, but I do generally believe that for the most part football fans are very similar and should stick together on things that affect the game and us all as a whole like this.
-
I thought that might have been what joey t was quoting at first but no, of course it's David Brent. It's never anyone else.
-
This specific situation, where the correct decision was incorrectly communicated, hasn't happened to us. At least not knowingly anyway. I'm sure someone will have suggested replaying matches and obviously it's ridiculous, but we all know the reaction on here would be one of absolute disgust like, and it has been plenty of times. After Palace, Liverpool, and (until the positive result took the edge off it) Forest away. Point being, this isn't a Liverpool hysteria problem, we all don't like VAR in its current format.
-
Ridiculous suggestions like replaying games were probably inevitable and dare I say are absolutely necessary if VAR is going to stop being a mess. Push beyond what you want to get what you want. Yeah it's funny for the people who despise Liverpool, but it's a universal problem and there would 100% be the same sort of reaction on here if it had happened to us, there just wouldn't be as much of a spotlight on it.

Feel like I'm constantly on the verge of bubbling tbh like. I'm very much in danger of losing my shit when I hear the anthem -

If you listen to the audio that BBC transcript is another layer of incorrect communication the VAR says 'that's fine' it's the ref that says off after blowing his whistle, not the VAR.

I know we've got Hall, but Leif Davis looks like a good player. Another massive Newcastle fan as well.

Police mentality, basically. Uhhh we just uphold the rules, we're morally empty messengers, don't blame us. In fact, don't just not blame us, respect us.

Sometimes I'm really harsh on myself when there's a cock up at work and I think how I maybe could have done better. Then I listened to that audio.

I miss the early 2000s Champions League highlights show on ITV

Joey Barton thinking he's in a position to pass judgement on what being a man (as opposed to a boy) is He's a worm. Whether the player he's talking about is a boy or a man, you can guarantee they have more about them than that worthless stain.
