  1. To a certain extent yes, and us, and our LGBT supporters group. It's not judgement, it's just fucking obvious.
  2. Yes. We're all hypocrites in one way or another to a certain extent. It's unavoidable. That's obvious pedantry though. Being a public supporter on LGBT rights and then going to work specifically for someone who decides to have gay people murdered is a bit more clear cut than "well aha, you continue to support the club you've supported your whole life"
  3. And they're not even remotely comparable anyway tbh. It would be if you went to play for a club, solely owned by a dictator who decides all of the rules on guns.
  4. Al Ettifaq are state owned.
  5. The Connor Gallagher one's even dafter, he's absolutely nothing like Hojberg
  6. He's made a lot of statements supporting LGBT in the past. Not that the hypocrisy is limited to him like.
  7. Kid Icarus

    Harvey Barnes

Bittersweet I think. No doubt he'll make up for what ASM lacked, but I'll really miss the flair.
  8. Nah, not a chance. Ginola was scapegoated for one incident vs Bulgaria, he was still a player at the top of the French league signed by us when we were near the top of the league to try and win the league. He was no more flawed or mercurial than Cantona.
  9. Ginola and Robert came here as league winners/challengers, internationals, and CL players coming here to get us to the top. The only player you can argue it really applied to where being at Newcastle vs their potential was a huge gap was HBA. At the end of the day all players have major flaws, it depends on whether you consider those flaws relevant to a player's role or whether those flaws are worth putting up with because of their strengths.
  10. I often wonder if other fanbases are like ours like. There's a very clear disagreement on the true value of flair players that I've seen in our fanbase over and over again for coming up to 30 years now.
  11. It's ridiculous how often no end product is brought up and is then shown to be wrong like. It must happen at least once a fortnight on here.
  12. He's absolutely right like. There are people who are absolutely desperate to paint him in a dishonestly negative light. To say no-one was doing that is just flat out wrong, tune in to any Gallowgate Shots episode in the last couple of years and there'll be some mention or argument over him and how prevalent it is online and in SJP.
  13. Bidding wars don't dictate value like, the asking price of the selling club and the price clubs are willing to pay dictate it more often than not.
  14. His per 90 assists are the best around. At least move on to the 'but he doesn't play enough' point. Aye it is subjective and loads of people think he's exciting, they're not wrong. Okay so no one else is in for him, which is a valid point and indicates that he can't be that good, but no one else being in for Barnes doesn't matter. I doubt I need to explain why the stance should be one or the other.
  15. You agree that Lascelles contributed more to our CL push by getting 2 yellow cards? That he's not exciting to watch? That other teams not being in for him is a measure of his worth? (conveniently ignoring that the Serie A Champions seem to want him, that no one other than us and West Ham are in for Barnes, and that no one else has been in for a lot of the talented players who've hone to SA?) Fair enough if you have your own reasons like, the injury one is totally valid, but the ones in that post were braindead.
  16. We actually have our own perfect example of goals and assists not being the be-all-and-end-all. Kevin Nolan was sold and we replaced him with Yohan Cabaye. No one would look back and say that was a downgrade. Imagine for a moment that we were about to sell Yohan Cabaye so we could buy Kevin Nolan. Looking at goals and assists alone you'd think it's an upgrade, but the devil is in the details. The main point here isn't that the players or situations are the same, it's that there's more to football than fixating solely on individual raw end product.
