  1. Pretty obvious what the thread's discussing by the title like, no one's making you read any of it.
  2. FWIW, I don't think anyone's bad or even ignorant for not caring about it like, the only thing that winds me up is people implying that others should stop talking about it or that there's anything wrong or virtue signally about feeling conflicted about it.
  3. You love doing this With all of the surveys that have been going around our fanbase about it, we'll probably know for sure soon enough.
  4. I don't disagree, everyone was miserable during the Ashley years and that connection is more real even if it is less meaningful. All I really mean is that once MBS came on the scene it kind of put things into the perspective, didn't it? Once you have that in the back of your mind it feels a bit ridiculous to talk about the 'real pain' we went through.
  5. Why have they used such a luxurious, sensual material?
  6. Howeh I know what you mean, we all 'suffered' the Ashley years, but that's probably the most first world problem thing I've ever read like. I can just about get my head around just how powerful material interests are and all of these mad cognitive biases that are going on, but I think once you have that dichotomy of Ashley and MBS in front of you and not just in the abstract, it does makes our problem with Ashley look and feel unbelievably trivial in hindsight. Obv not saying you're comparing the two either btw, just saying that for me at least it's planted the 'it's only football' seed in my mind more than anything.
  7. "Here's a side by side, which one do you prefer?" "yes"
  8. Can walk away because the owner who doesn't buy players for the football club you support made it easy, MBS on the other hand... Not having a go at you btw, we're all doing it, but it is fucked up like. I remember saying to Wullie around the time of the first bid that it really puts into perspective just how crazy football tribalism is that Mike Ashley's perceived as the baddie of the two between him and MBS.
  9. tbf I think it's that it's clearly NOT binary that's lead to this thread being 93 pages like. It's obviously very complicated, you'd be daft to suggest otherwise.
  10. I'm not looking for an argument, but this is a very much sanitised version of what's happened in the last couple of years imo. I totally agree with the majority view being the bit that you've put in bold, but what's missing there imo is just how powerful that is in the fanbase and how far that can be taken. Imo it is the most brilliant example of how powerful material interests are, where in this case the material interest of the football club people support is driving them to do things like openly abuse Jamal Khashoggi's partner or Amnesty International. I'm sure the vast majority will say that they don't want to defend the regime, dictatorship etc as you say, but when some of the same people then go and act like that, it sure does either look like that's what they're doing, or that they've got their priorities all wrong.
  11. All due respect, I was part of a group that couldn't talk the majority of the fanbase into protesting against Mike Ashley despite him being universally loathed. You'd have more joy selling garlic in Transylvania than protesting against this lot in Newcastle.
  12. We were heavily linked with Livramento on Monday and we've just signed Tonali after the signing of Minteh. Yous are getting worse, proper transfer addicts. The gap between Botman and Isak last year was massive, if you can't handle this you'll all be a wreck if that happens again.
  13. The only thing really annoying about it is 200 teethed Klopp whinging on about their 'ceiling' compared to ours.
  14. I love how on here if there's the mere hint of a conversation going off topic or there's a heated discussion people will whinge about it or want the thread locked. And for what? So we can go back to endless 'this cunt signed yet' posts.
  15. I had originally thought Blackburn, but the big difference there for me was that it was a 'one and done' title win and a passion project of a fan. Once they won the league it was over and the investment (and they) quickly fell away. Chelsea on the other hand haven't stopped for 20 years now.
  16. And just how full of shit people are when they say they wouldn't do it. It's not like there's a few million difference, the amounts they're being offered is astronomically life changing and would ensure their families stay rich for generations.
  17. You're setting yourself up for a long summer if you're worrying about signings in this situation like.
  18. At some point I'm going to end up coming up with a 'I don't get it XI' managed by Martinez and featuring him, Jenas, Morata etc
  19. Think it's great tbh. One of those ones that grows on everyone
  20. Personally I'd say with English tax he's about £80m-ish (bearing in mind that Bellingham should be the £100m player)
  21. It's a good signing for them. I think he'd have done better here, but now that he's gone there the parts of his character that are Spursy feel more obvious now
  22. Rice is brilliant, he's blindly underrated on here imo. Not worth £105m like, but definitely £50m+
  23. Bournemouth and Wolves already do it.
  24. He holds countless records for being one of our shittest managers of all time. There's no chance he did better than Rafa or Hughton, especially relative to the squads they had.
