  1. Almost a sweaty FIFA goal there. Leeds just look like they have all of the weaknesses from under Bielsa with none of the benefits.
  2. Oof. They're constantly in the wars like
  3. Watching other relegation battling teams is a really good antidote for any faint fears about Newcastle being in trouble like. Leeds look in real trouble and are playing that way. If it's not them then there are other teams before us.
  4. Similar. I usually have 1 to 3 a week depending on what mood I'm in and have done for years, with it upping in the last 18 months because I gave up weed. Could drink 3 and have a mint time now like, but it would be a special occasion for that. The idea of drinking 4 or 5 and being Barton's weight sounds totally deranged and deliberately asking for trouble.
  5. I'm calling it LARPing because it serves no strategic purpose as a protest, not because action didn't take place. It is the case, yeah. Government buildings and commercial property were damaged and looted. Police stations were burned down and looted. There were huge, spontaneous marches, protests, and riots. Government officials were forced to take public meetings on the streets and agree to reform. Whatever combination of factors you think brought about change in those circumstances is your conclusion to come to, but I think you'd have to make a pretty compelling case to suggest that blocking a motorway or other action directed at the public played a key role, not least when it was a wider movement with public involvement. Absolutely no sneering in the way that you present it at all. I'm in favour of most action that gets results. I just don't think there's evidence to suggest that protests that target the public get results, in fact largely the opposite. Anyway, I think I've made my point.
  6. The only arguments I've seen for it being a red card are based on imagining a different situation.
  7. I don't know how I can put this more plainly because I feel like I've already made it obvious, but you were asking me if those were my reasons. If 'actually doing something' is your defining characterstic of the purpose of protesting then godspeed, but it's not mine. For that reason I think it was LARPer activism, big deal. His beliefs have nothing to do with it, I've no doubt he believes in the cause, that doesn't mean I don't think his form of protest is infantile and counterproductive. Yeah, of course there was public disruption during the George Floyd protests, but that's not what I was talking about. I would have hoped that when I said 'they largely targeted the right areas - the police, capital, and property' that I'd made that clear like.
  8. I mean this in the nicest way I can, but I thought you were much more switched on than this MD. It's childish that you would suggest that those are the reasons I would have a problem with it. You put the question directly to me, not other people. It's LARPing because it not only serves no strategic purpose - bringing about change, gaining support, solidarity, and numbers - but it's actually counterproductive to most of those objectives. If the true point of protesting is pissing people off and turning them against your cause under the guise of 'raising awareness' or making yourself feel better because you've 'done something' then I stand corrected, he's not a LARPer. Yes, the George Floyd protests - the protests that 1. Largely targeted the right areas (the police, capital, and property) and 2. resulted in widespread reform. Just because people were pissed off about them, doesn't mean they targeted people. The people who were pissed off in that situation were collateral, the people pissed off last night were the target.
  9. Read back what I said again. I said they DO involve the public (as in the public are involved in protesting) The second bit with the reasons you're suggesting is just childishness. Not sure why you're lowering yourself to that. It's LARPer activism because it serves no strategic purpose and only really serves to make that person think they're doing something and 'raising awareness'. It pisses off the public, turns them against you, listening to you, and the message - the exact opposite of what activism is supposed to be about - gaining members, support, and solidarity. It's not even the type of protest that's a problem either - much more violent and disruptive protests and movements have been successful - it's who they target that matters. Examples - there are countless examples, but just off the top of my head, most grass roots political movements, the labour movement, the million man march, the George Floyd protests.
  10. There literally is plenty of forms of protest that don't target the public MD, in fact many successful protests include the public. Even if there weren't, it totally ignores the reality that it does piss people off and turn them away, regardless of what you might think that says about them. Immature LARPer activism.
  11. Spectacular negativity Howeh man, talk about going over the top. I didn't say we weren't capable, just that there weren't many matches I really fancy us in, big difference.
  12. He's a fucking idiot. Can't think of a more counterproductive form of protesting than deliberately targeting and pissing off the people you need to win over.
  13. Have any of them really been playing any exciting football this year? Even Liverpool are seeming more machine-like in the way they play now.
  14. There are none aside from Palace at home that I really fancy us in, but this really should be the year we finally win at Carrow Road like, they're fucking terrible.
  15. Christ, I know it's a series of errors like, but what the fuck was Burn doing? Just inexplicably Beckenbaur to Bramble in that one moment, I don't get what he was thinking. Terrible from Dubravka as well like.
  16. I'm not saying there's anything in this, but if we go 9 games without losing then 11 games without winning? 9/11. Seems like too much of a coincidence for there to be nothing in that.
  17. All of those things literally aren't true though It was with one foot, leading with one foot, and nowhere near his knee.
  18. I know we need a break, but there's nothing worse following a loss from a fan's perspective. Fucking 2 and a bit weeks of analysing and wondering.
  19. Fair enough if you hate them, but I guarantee you'll change your opinion if it becomes the norm and it's still absolute bullshit to make them the norm half way through the season with no warning.
  20. While he hasn't had great service, he's definitely not a player who can make something out of a cross in the way Andy Carroll used to. If the ball in has to be as good as that Shelvey cross every time I'm not sure he can really be classed as a proper aerial threat tbh.
  21. Thought he kept giving away daft free kicks but was otherwise untroubled. Manquillo might be the better player but he wasn't last night at all.
  22. Sorry Dunno why my mind did that like. Point still stands though considering everything else.
  23. Allan being off the ground isn't an issue either, he's about 5ft 0, going in on ASM Joelinton who's over 6ft He goes in with one foot, at about ankle/shin height, doesn't sweep with his trailing leg, he's not massively out of control. It was a disgraceful decision tbh.
  24. That has never ever been a red card. It was about as typical a 'stop them breaking' yellow card as you'll see.
  25. Wasn't a red card in a million years anyway and never has been.
