Burn and Schar have hit higher heights, but neither have been without errors in the way Targett has. He's just solid and dependable. He's been a 7, 8, or 9 every match since he joined. An excellent signing if we get him for £15m.
-
And fatigue tbf. Fraser especially had the energy of someone who'd just done 2 back to back night shifts.
-
The idea that he's being written off is over the top I think. It's a general point anyway and not based on just after Everton. The top teams have front players who press and support each other, he doesn't. It's not necessarily a criticism for a player in the team we've been, but for a team competing for titles it's more or less unviable, so he needs to make that part of his game at some point if he's going to be part of that journey.

A club looking at winning the Premier League in 5-10 years can't have any players playing well once a month. This is now and that's then, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with saying he needs to adapt and progress as a player IF that's our aim and he wants to be part of that.
-
I like him, but there's not a top team in the world with front players that don't graft their tits off. Whether he becomes that player, he comes along for the ride for a bit, or Howe brings in someone else straight away, who knows, but hopefully we get to the point where we're not saying 'if he didn't have flaws he wouldn't be at Newcastle in the first place' because that would mean we've not progressed.

The fucking embedding on here man.

FWIW I think Howe picking the right players for each match is the right way to go. It definitely wasn't Joelinton or Willock's night tonight, but the front 3 were bad, even Fraser, so that'll have had a knock on effect as well
-
Maybe he'll be a bit less underappreciated now.
-
Doesn't help when ignored members keep getting quoted like.
-
Pawson's a fucking pushover and a shit referee like. Couldn't give a shit if we benefitted from it, that red card was a joke. As I said earlier he made an already poor game even worse with his stop-start bullshit.
-
Don't think he got it wrong really, we just played shite.
-
Really hope we don't start feeling the pressure to get that final win or two like.
-
They were still absolutely shocking mind. They'll do very well to get another win or stay up playing like that.
-
We've kept possession plenty recently. Tonight it seemed like we were too impatient in one way or another.
-
I should have known we'd lose with Newcastle-Online's preferred midfield™️ I feel like that always happens, because despite what we might all think, we all know fuck all about football
-
We were the better team, no doubt, but I'd call it momentum rather than is being very good.
-
Complete waste of time singling individuals out when the team performance was that bad. Targett and Bruno are the only two that didn't have bad moments.
-
Really disappointing that mind. None of the guile, the streetwise play, the craft, or the energy that's made us hard to beat and good going forward. Worst performance of 2022 by a mile.
-
Saw that coming a mile off. You get what you deserve and we got what we deserved for being unbelievably complacent against a team scrapping for their lives. An already bad game made somehow even worse by a shocking referee.
-
Nothing like an N-O match thread to make you feel like an optimist
-
They're absolutely shocking and there for the taking. We've been decent at points but have been a bit guilty of overplaying it. A few tweaks and we can win but we need to keep their tails down.

Wonder if Howe actually rates Krafth higher than Manquillo
