The links aren't nebulous like, but it's probably best kept for the Chat section/for us to not talk about.

If you're talking specifically about oligarchs (probably semantics when it seems like every fucking Billionaire is involved in manipulating a government) here then I actually agree with almost everything you're saying here. I think the only difference is that while your point is 'why single out Stavelely/Abramovich when they're all at it?' and it being hypocritical, I would say every single one of them should be singled out, sanctioned, removed from positions of political influence. Obviously that's deluded in the extreme though, this country and its public has very clear definitions on what's an acceptable war and an unacceptable war. Mention something like BDS in most political corners either here or in the U.S and most of the people who are rightly outraged over Ukraine will look down and shuffle their feet.

It's only been a few games and he's easily head and shoulders above the rest as our best left back since Enrique. It would be an absolute no-brainer to get him signed as part of the first step of becoming a team that challenges.

I'd argue that bit being left out puts her in a better light. The bit in bold just immediately brings up the obvious double standards in everyone's minds.

What she's said is just consistent with her (and us) being in bed with the Saudis. She's hardly going to describe the PIF as wonderful and then get on her high horse about Abramovich. I know there are those that want to fawn over her and Mehrdad because they're all nicey nice, saved us from Ashley, and have big plans for the club, but things like this are going to come up time and again and expose some uncomfortable truths that remind us of who we're owned by. That's not a criticism for anyone either btw, I just don't think we should kid ourselves or fall into the trap of mistaking professional competence for personal rightousness.

Yeah, Fraser's been good like, but I don't think I'd have him as our own player of the month Would probably be Joelinton or Schar.

Good to see everyone standing in solidarity, wearing We stand with Palestine Ukraine shirts.

Gabriel Clarke talking to members of a lower league football club like they're a Make-a-Wish kid going to Disneyland. "Have you ever been to Goodison Park?" like he's asking a 3 year old about Space Mountain. He's such a creepy, condescending cock.

You're suggesting that a success record of 2 in 2 (a World Cup semi final, and a Euro final) is comparable to a success record of 1 in 4 for us and about 2 in 13 overall.

And truly jumped the shark in 2021. I'd be all for it, but I think we all know it'll be lip service and being carried out by an institution that's also corrupt, a bit like when FIFA set up that anti corruption department.

It's funny how with some people Southgate only ever gets the criticism for not winning the tournament and not the credit for getting there in the first place. You'd think England were regularly getting to semis and finals before he came along, or that we'd got to semis and finals in spite of Southgate wouldn't you? That's not even to say that he doesn't have his weaknesses, because he obviously does, but people seem to want to have it both ways - embracing his failures and rejecting his successes.

The manager of the month curse is a myth IIRC. Howe did have a month of 0 points after he last won it though.
-
All of this is shit but we're still going to support the club we've supported our whole lives anyway knowing we're hypocrites because we don't have it in us to walk away Vs I've decided that sportswashing doesn't exist or if it does then it's fine and I embrace it and the blood money No one in either corner really has the moral high ground to be criticising the other tbh. For some reason you seem to think you do though, which is a bit weird.

The Kick Off is at its absolute best when they're being serious imo. The super league episode was excellent and the latest episode on Chelsea is really good too. I'd much rather listen to seemingly normal people with genuine passion for their club and football talk about things they're intimately familiar with than even the very best journalists who still pontificate a bit and can be a bit alienating. Slightly self indulgent so apologies, but when Rory's not being massively partisan he makes a lot of points about the way football's going, his views on Abramovich, and especially in the super league episode, that reminds me of how experiencing Mike Ashley and the takeover lead me to wondering about capitalism, society, tribalism, material interests and so on in general. Has anyone else had a similar sort of thing happen to them because of football or Ashley?

What the fuck's this like, Boomer-Online? Get back on Facebook, man.

I actually think the Gallowgate is much more of an eyesore than the East Stand and sticks out like a sore thumb. If the East Stand stayed and the Gallowgate was a continuation of the Milburn level, that would look class imo and probably get us up to 60k-ish.

Should have added the Robben and Duff year of Mourinho as well tbf, but after that not so much. Some of the teams I've loved watching would be us under Keegan, invincibles era Arsenal, '08-'15 Barca, Rooney/Tevez/Ronaldo era Man United, Dortmund and Liverpool under Klopp. Anything fast and skillful really.

Not my type of football at all. I enjoyed that Hiddink half season and a bit of the Ancellotti era, but other than that it wasn't for me.

"Which manager was sacked from one club and resigned from his next one despite being unbeaten on both occassions?"
-
Chelsea are probably the club I dislike the most in football. Never liked their players, style of football, managers, owner, the area, or their stereotypical fans. I have no sympathy for their situation for those reasons and because whatever happens now, Abramovich's time at Chelsea has been a massive net win for them and their fans have had a mint time with it. Having said all that, as a general rule I think it's absolutely shit that any football fans are at the whims of this sort of shit and while we're all enjoying it, we'd be naive in the extreme to think that it won't happen to us.

Gumbaay, fetch me the pelemier league table

Lovely finish from a player I otherwise can't stand.

I could definitely live with a draw like.
