He's exactly the sort of player that people worry about not doing it imo - me included. Shoehorned comparison because of the differences in their style of play, but if Callum Wilson was coming in with 3 goals in 15, but with a 1 in 3 record (mainly scored at the end of the season) in previous seasons, I think there would be much more confidence than there is with Wood.

I'm relatively confident that Wood can do what he's done nearly every other season - gone on very good goalscoring runs at the end of the season.

It's not the be-all-and-end-all when he'll likely get that move regardless. He's 19 and would be moving to another country, into a high pressure/high responsibility situation, which isn't easy at the best of times let alone at that age.

Tbf, if I was him at his age I'd stay where I am. Wouldn't fancy coming here to be thrown into a situation where I have to score goals or the richest club in the world gets relegated.

You can be club captain and not play. I think we've done that a fair bit, including with Lascelles.
