  1. Both sides of the stadium will be as deliciously anxious and excited as each other, no doubt. Really looking forward to it now!
  2. Jonathan Woodgate and Michael Skubala? (Not best pics to illustrate...)
  3. Pet peeve away, but no need to be so literal (or literary!). It obviously just means it would come across as implausible in a fictional plot line. And it was a very appropriate way of capturing lots of people’s feelings about yesterday (… and many things NUFC over the years).
  4. If Willock is out Maxi starts, right? Almiron, Longstaff, Bruno, Joelinton the others. Pretty happy with that middle three. Would like to see Bruno the, more often, more advanced role.
  5. Is there anything organised for Wembley or more just a bring your own?
  6. Lots of posts about the club not investing, really being interested in too 4 this season, looking to develop and sell on players, as part of the strategy. Other implied hidden motives. They have repeatedly said, one way and another, that they are building a squad and the club in the right way. They’ll buy what we need, if that person will come, but run it like a well functioning business. They won’t just splurge or chase an arbitrary objectives/a number. We’ll try and win every game, build an ethos and sense of collective endeavour, we’ll finish where we finish. If we finish in Champions League spot, then expenditure in the summer will be increased as will our ‘attractiveness’ as an option. I still think we’ll finish top 4, by the way. But let’s just enjoy the ride. If you having seen the Man City documentary ‘Drink it in’ it is worth a watch as a reminder of their transformation.
  7. It is. Just in about how the sound travels. Which reminds me, best recent (out of not many attended matches to be fair) experience of atmosphere in the Leazes was right behind the goal in the semi-final.
  8. Given what opposition players and managers periodically say about playing at SJP, I do wonder whether the acoustics work better if you are on the pitch/not sitting in a stand. Which would be fab if so; it’s the main point of the noise really. Have to say would be tickled ‘crimson’ to hear a bit of banter between stands again: “Sing in the Leazes!…”. Pick of the bunch would be, Platinum Club Ultras: “Sing in the cheap seats!”
  9. Sorry for tampering with your words, Mr P, but the juxtaposition of the first and last sentences gave me the first smile of the day.

    Nick Pope

That is my only remaining negative feeling this morning. He’ll be really upset.
  11. Not a bad Saturday to miss. Think I got five lots of zero points for the first time!
  12. I was really proud of the lads today. And the crowd. Perform like that next weekend and that’ll do for me.
  13. Thinking of moving to Stretford, might give it a swerve if we lose ?
  14. Just listen to some Dido & Lewis Capaldi on a loop. Top break-up music ?
  15. https://m.facebook.com/LiverpoolFC/videos/watch-taa-beats-christian-atsu-4-1-on-fifa-20-️/2953988978016708/ Nice normal guy kind of memory relevant to today. Atsu vs Alexander-Arnold on FIFA.
  16. RIP, Christian. A tragically short life but a remarkable one. Down a road millions aspire to but only a tiny proportion have the talent to find. Hope you knew more than your fair share of happiness.
  17. Errrrrmm, that is like a mind blowing statement. Quite apart from his association with this club. The only English player to win the ballon d’or twice, one of the most charismatic and inspirational men in football (anywhere, ever) who absolutely gets us and all that we have been and could be, and you don’t fancy him rocking up for a pep talk?
  18. There was that game in ‘88 after team night out at The Simla… .
  19. There’s a Newcastle end (West; block 239 I think. And t’other lot are in 210/211 from memory.
  20. Sky bet odds of 5/6 to finish top four… yet some have been suggesting we’ve blown it ?‍♂️
  21. What has been the highest score of the season? Do you know the lowest score, when someone has put in a full set of predictions?
  22. Let’s not. But since we are, I’d convinced myself we were winning against Arsenal. Phenomenal prematch and we just didn’t turn-up. Was that the “Attack-Attack…” final? I didn’t have the same deluded conviction the year after. As you point out we were unfortunate to be playing the best team in the country both years. Then the third semi final in a row (at Wembley this time) we lost to eventual winners Chelsea, who had recently won the FA cup (year before Arsenal). A game which cemented my hatred for Dennis Wise, I’m sure then all was moving when he took free kick for one of the goals (and respect for Zola). At least I got to see us score there.
