  1. Unfortunately, Casemiro will be back.
  2. Any bars to recommend near Baker Street? Will be getting tube from there to Wembley. Would be nice to be around other toon fans. Any advice much appreciated.
  3. Yes, seem qualitatively different. Seen enough of Gordon to believe he will be a full international/top player. Don’t have same belief re Anderson, though maybe flash forward a year and we’ll know/be confident one way or another. That said, he’ll probably have to go elsewhere next season for him to realise his potential/find his level.
  4. I know it is easier said than done. But don’t do it to yourself, man. Makes literally no difference if we angst over it or dare to dream. This could be the best bit, the anticipation. The build-up. Imagining the day. Picturing us turning-up and giving it a real good go, as we did (apparently) in the ‘76 LCF. If we let ourselves go there, just dare to hold it in mind, entertain the very real possibility of a NUFC captain facing our supporters and holding aloft a major cup. Epic. A seachange in our fortunes and the confidence that can become an ingrained belief that we actually can not only compete (we are..) but actually win. Way I feel at the moment, I can’t fucking wait!
  5. Watched them today, flattering score line, Leeds missed lots of opportunities and just seemed to capitulate when they conceded. Man Utd’s limited performance, admittedly without Casemiro, and given they have Barcelona (away 16th, home 23rd) and a resurgent Leicester (at Old Trafford, 19th) before the final, has made me feel optimistic again.
  6. Time yet. Though Rutter and Gnonto look shite.
  7. ‘Kin hell, man. Give it a rest.
  8. “That you, Ollie pal?”
  9. So is balancing the books in terms of wages and numbers. Also respecting a player’s wish to leave. Hasn’t really featured much this season so probably on balance seemed the right option.
  10. Ok, I’ve adjusted the Top Ten Tracking chart to show average points, accumulated by month (assuming same number of games, per month, as this season) for 1st to 6th over the previous 30 seasons (adjusted for 38 games). The white bars represent fourth. I have placed Brighton home and West Ham away in March (neither date announced yet). In short, we’re still bang on for the average 4th place points total (41 points, end of Feb) with a game ‘in hand’/left to play this month.
  11. Can’t find stats and chart I did, but think points wise we’re still on track for lower average points total for fourth. I’ll re-do it at month end. Also think it is looking like it is on course to be a low points total across the top six, or lower reaches of that at least, this season. Teams racking up too many defeats already (and draws!!). Personally I think we’ll be comfortably top six and have a good chance of fourth, and of even higher. If we’d won last two games, we’d level on points with Man City. Dawned on me that comparing results against top four competitors is often a good indicator of true relative quality. So, we’ve drawn with Man City at home (could have/should have won), Man Utd away, Arsenal away, Brighton away; and beaten Spurs away, Fulham home and away and Chelsea and Brentford at home. We’ve lost once, Liverpool away (could have/should have drawn or even won). Not too shabby on the whole competitor challenge.
  12. A lot of frustration in here tonight. Game looked very winnable on paper. But it’s not played… well, you know the rest. Lots of results go against the odds, or ‘on paper’ expectations, every season. That’s why nobody gets rich betting on football results. We didn’t lose—like Spurs, or last week Arsenal in a top vs bottom away match, or Man City at Spurs, or Man Utd at home, or draw at home like Chelsea—it’s disappointing but not unusual or catastrophic. Did anybody really think we were just going to steam roller all comers? Just because we’re decent now? We’re doing well. We’ve a good team, a couple of creative options short of being a great team. We might well get there next season, though even then we’re going to have disappointing performances, it’s football/any team sport. Shake it off. Maybe next game we’ll be firing in all cylinders, or, preferably, the one after that.
  13. Can tell we weren’t ‘ticking’, but how did Gordon look and where did he play?
  14. I’d be there if wasn’t ‘elsewhere’ looks a great venue. Never knew it existed. Fabulous idea and way to enjoy the occasion.
  15. 3000 optimists ahead of me in the ‘ballot’ queue. Picturing it as being like a 1980’s tombola in Felling Social Club with a queue going down to the Metro station! (Niche reference for the very few and quite aged…). Reckon I’d have brought a ball, looking forward to some keepy-uppies on the bankies.
  16. You and me both. Do have that sense that something is going to click, bad finishing can’t continue, someone is due a spanking. Then I remember our very own Brazilian wizard (‘Castle’o’Bruno instead of Castelobruxo?) is missing and all the ‘against the odds’ 1-0s (and a shock 3-0) last week, and the random unexpected points relegation threatened clubs seem to pick-up, and how Bournemouth drew here in the reverse fixture, and made it very difficult in our 1-0 Carabao Cup home victory, and imagine us joining the shock defeats club. ‘Kin hell, made myself pessimistic again. That said, still going for 3-0 to us as a prediction. Black ‘n’ white army/thinking!
  17. There’s a beautiful thing happening in here ?
  18. It’s a thing of beauty and, I think, was my first NUFC top (1973). Or looks like it at least!
