  1. The comments in Edwards article are quite interesting, i’m predicting Emma Dixon is the new Dolly Potter. ED Emma Dixon2 HRS AGO As a native and local, I completely agree with you. Newcastle is not an add-on to a wretched football stadium and nor should it become one. I think this plan outrageous, although some of my nearest and dearest disagree with me. ED Emma Dixon2 HRS AGO You’re wrong there. That said, as a native of Newcastle I’m totally against SJP encroaching on Leazes Park. ED Emma Dixon2 HRS AGO I would help build them if this plan goes ahead. ED Emma Dixon2 HRS AGO The cost of lots of things could be deemed ‘prohibitive’; let’s pull down and pave over the lot eh? ED Emma Dixon2 HRS AGO His argument is not persuasive at all. Newcastle is not a football club with city attached. On a positive note. PB Paul Baptist4 HRS AGO I assume the stadium will be state of the art but do you think it’ll be a statement stadium something like Sofi stadium in the US? Reply by Luke Edwards. LE Luke EdwardsTELEGRAPH3 HRS AGO From what I'm told it will be up there with the very best of the modern stadiums anywhere in the world!
  2. Just hope PIF have the balls unlike John Hall to ride out the planning process, the majority of Tyneside will want this stadium, but there will be a very vocal minority of Swampys, mackems and anti Saudi brigade who will kick up a stink. The other proposal which includes leaving the East Stand largely untouched, just doesn’t cut it if where looking to be best in class. The East Stand will need demolished like the flyover before long.
  3. Relaxation in planning laws on the way just in time.
  4. Man U have about 50k season ticket holders, Tottenham 45k, Arsenal 40k and Man City 40k. Going off their current capacities that’s the following percentage of season ticket holders. Man U 68% Spurs 73% Arsenal 67% City 75% If we’ve got 33k season tickets, might be slightly generous number, that’s us at 63% the lowest from that lot. Should we move into a new stadium housing 70k, if we didn’t take any new season ticket holders our percentage would dip to 47%. What should be taken into account with the above clubs and Liverpool is that bar City perhaps, they benefit massively from day trippers to boost match day sales. I think leaving our season ticket numbers at 47% would be a massive risk with such a big ground for the less attractive fixtures.
  5. I suspect Eddie would have done things differently a couple of summers back if he’d been given the full picture re PSR. Last summer losing Anderson in particular will have been painful for all concerned, lessons have been learned and I’m confident under Mitchell where in good hands.
  6. I think to counter act Arsenal’s height especially if Joelinton is out, he’ll be very tempted to play Schar, Botman and Burn.
  7. Would not be surprised to see Burn back at LB on Wednesday and Trippier RB.
  8. Bet talk of booking trains and hotels for Wembley has dried up last couple of home games.

    Joelinton

Think Ashworth was right in dragging his feet on new contract, he’ll certainly not get any better with age as his physical attributes wane.
  10. The subs are either like for like, or just a complete scattter gun approach. Willock has been piss poor for months, we needed more control Miley should have been the sub yesterday.
  11. Sell sell sell he’s finished.
  12. I’m sure this won’t be all pure profit and imagine he received a hefty signing on fee in the summer.
  13. Need to add a dynamic, technical midfield player to the summer shopping list, the much lauded midfield 3 isn’t all that unfortunately.
  14. If they’re not encroaching as much as those mock ups of a stadium suggested, possibly as The BrownBottle suggested they’re moving towards Barrack Road and just more in to the car park. Not sure it’ll be rotated, but might explain the wrap design if they’re still short on room towards Leazes Terrace possibly.
  15. His first tweet with the outlines certainly confused the Twitter lot, not sure this bloke tweets regularly and seems clued up, don’t think he would make this up. This pic makes me wonder how they’re going to do it though, if they’re not encroaching this much ?
  16. Suggests he has seen plans for new stadium and the new build isn’t as far in the park as what was shown on that YouTube video. If that’s the case we would need a temporary home whilst it’s built.
  17. Waste of a flight for Levy what a shame.

    Paul Mitchell

If the finances don’t allow it though what does he do ? He’s reliant on Silverstone bringing in new deals, or are you saying you’re happy to sell Tonali, or Isak at this point to fund 3 players coming in, bearing in mind one will need to be a replacement ?
  19. Seagulls taking their revenge on mackens.
  20. Think Dibling might be one that goes before we get a chance in the summer, whether he’s worth 50 plus is another thing, but definitely someone I think Howe would have liked to work with.

    Paul Mitchell

Spot on Mitchell has been dealt these cards and not much he can do currently, bar bring in some youth players.
  22. The company named in Hopes article did the Anfield redevelopment, was inside the main stand during the summer for a concert and it’s very nice, walked through the new Anfield Road End to get out and that seemed very basic on the inside and dull. Think their main stand does look alright from outside though, but St James is such a hotch potch of materials not sure what would look good.
  23. Amazing how dated even that looks now.
  24. Not saying a wrap is my favourite option but the top end ones, not the Le Havre one will be the standard if that’s the route they go.
