  3. Throwback to January last year https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/must-read-steve-bruce-interview-19683863 Bruce said: "Some of it needs to be more measured. "I give respect. When I see polls, the next manager and the fella from Bournemouth, I find it disrespectful, I have to tell you. "Your paper (the Chronicle) was gunning for a manager that got a team relegated last year."
  4. That's including the customary good luck he got every few games (the late winners mostly is worth 5 points)

Give it 10 mins they'll be ahead like normal. Shame when we score a last-minute winner it's frowned upon
  6. Just another reminder that we spent £80m in 2015/16 under McClaren and got relegated even with 10 games under Rafa (Burnley left it too late too if we're going by that tactic)

  8. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/eddie-howe-newcastle-premier-league-mike-ashley-bournemouth-b2059494.html Nice quotes, is it from the presser? The 44-year-old head coach said: “We have to build the club in conjunction with the team. I don’t think it’s a case that you can just build the team and not include the infrastructure in that, so we have a lot of work to do.” Howe oversaw a similar process as he led former club Bournemouth from League Two to the top flight, and he admits there are parallels to be drawn. He said: “At Bournemouth, we came from League Two to the Premier League where naturally we had a lot to change. “When you attract players in the Premier League and you’re signing players at that level, you can’t not offer them the right surroundings and the right day-to-day environment for them to perform at their best at the level you’re playing at. “Now, here we have good facilities, but I think there’s a need to take things on a step and that’s certainly in everyone’s minds.” Good facilities is a stretch personally but the rest is good
  9. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10720431/Why-Newcastle-consider-selling-fan-favourite-Allan-Saint-Maximin.html (Craig Hope) Why would Newcastle United consider selling a player who is a favourite of supporters and, on his day, one of the most exciting in the Premier League? Sources say the club could be open to offers for Allan Saint-Maximin this summer, with a fee in the region of £50million mooted. The answer to the above is multi-layered but, primarily, lies in the want to generate funds to stay ahead of spending regulations. It may surprise some given the wealth behind the Saudi-led ownership, but there is talk of an initial transfer budget of around £60-80million this summer being supplemented by player sales, with the purchase of a striker the absolute priority. ... The point is, Newcastle do not need to sell him. But if a calculation is made and there is a feeling that the sale of any player would represent value and allow other areas to be strengthened significantly, then even the likes of Saint-Maximin will not be immune.
  10. On the subject of Pardew it looks like the fanbase for the most part are looking back really fondly on his time. The same people who at the time won't have been happy at all, Welsh town banner 2014 comes to mind
  11. And if anyone fancies a YouTube scouting session
  12. https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2022/0413/1292178-galway-united-defender-murphy-set-for-newcastle-move/ Newcastle United are set to sign Galway United star Alex Murphy, holding off a scatter of other clubs in the battle for the 17-year-old. Murphy, a native of Annaghdown who joined United's academy from Corrib Celtic, will move to England after he turns 18 this summer. RTÉ Sport understands that Galway United's representatives are very pleased with how discussions have gone on Tyneside and will see the transfer as evidence that their burgeoning academy, led by club legend Johnny Glynn, is progressing as hoped. Murphy turns 18 on 25 June, after which he can make his move to the UK. He made his first-team debut last June against Athlone Town as a 16-year-old and has become a regular in Caulfield's side, mainly at left-back.
  13. Looking at Eriksen - the online post comes out early in the morning on the Northern Echo iirc
  14. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10712721/Newcastle-exploring-pre-season-trip-United-States.html Newcastle United are exploring a pre-season trip to the United States this summer. Sportsmail understands Minnesota is one destination being considered for a training camp and friendly matches. Eddie Howe has already taken his squad to Saudi Arabia and Dubai this year, although both destinations would be too hot in July. There are also commercial benefits of an American tour, with the club’s new Saudi-backed owners working to increase revenues across all departments. Howe is also keen to foster team spirit with foreign getaways and, following January’s trip to Jeddah during which they met the Saudi owners, they returned to win five of their next six matches. It is likely the team will return to Saudi at the end of the year, around the time of the World Cup in Qatar.
  15. Based on a previous article he wrote - Howe's said later he has no plans to sell at the minute
  16. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10708215/Newcastle-add-Brighton-winger-Leandro-Trossard-list-potential-targets.html Newcastle United have added Brighton's Leandro Trossard to their list of potential wing targets. Newcastle crowd favourite Allan Saint-Maximin is expected to be sold this summer with any fee likely to be reinvested into their rebuild. Nottingham Forest's Brennan Johnson and Bayer Leverkusen's Moussa Diaby are two wingers they have already compiled reports in but Newcastle face fierce competition on both. Meanwhile, one signing Newcastle do expect to complete is the permanent move for left back Matt Targett. The 26-year old has impressed since joining from Aston Villa in January and Newcastle are poised to complete the deal for around £15m plus their loan fee which is understood included a bonus for Premier League survival.
