Eddie didn’t accommodate him in any way that was going to get the best out of him. He asked him to play an unfamiliar role in a system that doesn’t suit him. Because he only knows one way to play.
-
I don’t even think it was money wasted on a poor player. He’s got bags of talent. It was money wasted on a player who can’t fit into Eddie’s one system. Of course some managers would think “I’ll change the system to suit the players I have” but apparently that’s not an option or a managerial capability.
-
It really wouldn’t.
-
The manager is responsible for our system, attacking play, defending, mentality, fitness, final say on transfers and everything else. It’s literally his job. Are our players worse than Forest’s, Sunderland’s, Brighton’s, Brentford’s etc? Nope, they’re comfortably better. So what else is responsible for our superior players consistently not creating, not scoring, conceding, looking disinterested, and losing/dropping points to inferior opposition?
-
That ‘sometimes’ seems to happen quite a lot when we’re playing, particular in the last 15 minutes of games.
-
Pretty clear it doesn’t matter which players play, we’re still shit. Tells you everything. The Lewis Hall at RB move was baffling. Anything to keep Burn on the pitch.

Must have been watching a different channel to me. That was toilet!

Whatever we’ve been working on this week, it clearly isn’t passing. Fucking Sunday league stuff

Eddie’s inspirational team talks. He’s well know for them. 😬
-
Ah, I didn't spot that. Nursing a fairly chunky hangover so my brain is struggling
-
I think it'll be Osula left won't it? We've got no left winger otherwise. Unless Joelinton is playing there with Wolte playing as the number #10. Either way, i'm twice as interested in the game as I was before the lineup was announced.
-
I can see him ending up in Turkey
-
That's class! Would 100% watch this.
-
Likewise. In fact the last two. It should be a reward and something to enjoy but instead it just feels like it's a millstone around our neck. Having said that, I would fancy our chances of going far in the two lesser European competitions, which could be fun but we'd have to be ok with being shite in the league as a consequence
-
What was the game where he put 3-4 full blooded sliding-challenges in a row, in the same move? I think it was early in Eddie's reign where we played peak intensity is our identity.
-
He'll be on about a billion a week in Saudi. If he wants to come back he'll know a paycut is necessary
-
A PL-experienced mobile striker who is only 26 that we have courted before. And he's quite tall. Surely we'd be interested?
-
played on the right for Liverpool for a period as well if I remember correctly.
-
Yeah, I think you could push that beyond the club and across the whole PL to be honest. Far and away my favourite player of the modern NUFC era

I get that, I think we all had the same feeling at the weekend, to be proved wrong. But, keeping the likes of Murphy, Willock, possibly even Joelinton for another season when we can/might get reasonable money for them (and recoup money from the reduction in salaries from them to their replacements) makes good business sense, and we have to balance the finances with the playing side of things. Like you say, we have to play the system better than most because we’re hampered. The system is surely better played by offloading your older players when you get the opportunity, assuming we do.
-
Who could've predicted the world's thickest footballer, Garnacho wouldn't make the grade? Looking to replace him after one season
-
It was said very tongue in cheek tbh. He clearly sees things in some of our players that we don't but he also has to understand that we're a big club with big ambitions. Wanting to keep players who aren't good enough because you trust them isn't big club mentality. We're also a business - if we get decent offers for older fringe players we can replace with younger ones with higher ceilings, he has to be prepared to bend a bit.
-
Mitigating circumstances this time being Eddie didn't want so many new players
-
Watch the ball get played to his feet and nick it off him when it bounces off. Even i figured that out (after we'd signed him sadly)

What was Forest's reaction to losing Elanga? Were they disappointed or delighted with the £55m?
