Isak is our best player , he should be starting .

Always find him one of the more likeable top class managers , the likes of Fergie, Conte , Klopp , Mourinho are all/ were greats of the game but horrible wankers , never get that impression with Pep.

Why? He’s basically an oracle and comes across as a decent bloke, basically like a better version of Wenger. He’s not a complete dick like say Fergie, Klopp,Conte or Mourinho for example .

He’s done an excellent job so far no doubt about it but the next step is to do it over a full season. I would be very surprised if he keeps up that sort of form over a full season and you finish top 4, Eddie managed to do it with us last season, let’s see if Emery can do it this season.

Villa definitely peaked in that 3-0 game, they only won 3 out the last 7 league games after that, was just one of them games where everything they did worked and combined with our worst performance of the season, it just makes Villa look way better than they actually are. If they played like that every week they would win the league.

Just presumed we could release them and get wages off the books, didn't realise would go against us for FFP.

Don't understand why we don't just pay up the contracts and release them? Gets the wages of the books which helps with FFP.

To be fair you could have had prime Messi up front instead of Weghorst that day and the result still wouldn’t have changed , we just ran all over the top of you and completely and utterly demolished you .

Villa are a good side but they are overrated on here because of that one game ,it was just one of them games , we were miles off the pace and they peaked . We did exactly the same to Man United at home but I don’t see many people saying we will finish above them next season. They had a good run under Emery but that sort of level isn’t sustainable over a full season or else they would win the league . They will likely finish 7th /8th and I would expect us to be above them .

That game at Villa park was such an abnormally in both our seasons though, Villa peaked that day and only won 3 out the last 7 league games after that, it was just one of them daft games where everything they did worked and we were so far below our usual standards. They are a good team no doubt but if we are looking to compete for the top 4 again you should be expecting to beat Villa at home.

Agree with most of this , would have Chelsea in Tier 4 though . The top 5 will be the same as last season I think not necessarily in the same order though . I think Villa are now better than Spurs and Brighton but not at our level .

It was the Man United game , the baldy nonce kept harping on about us slowing the game down , so we ran them out of town basically .

Will obviously score about 20 goals a season in that league but I think we are now at a level above him as last season showed .

Agree with most of this , Villa and Brighton are still a level below us , they also have the Europa league and conference league which always impacts on your league season. Spurs I’m not even convinced are at the same level as Villa and Brighton are now , depends on this new manager but the squad they have is still poor apart from Kane and it showed last season. I think it’s likely we will be some way behind Man City and Arsenal again , also think Liverpool will improve a lot . Leaves us and Man United battling for 4th. Chelsea the only ones I am unsure about , they could challenge for 4th but could equally also end up about 8th.

Barnes isn’t even his replacement either , he’s basically being sold so we can sign another 3/4 players to improve our squad which due to ffp is the only way we can do it .

I don't hate Bellamy at all, he was class for us and it was the knacker Souness that got rid of him.

Can you not just terminate the contracts of all the dead wood we have ? Pay them off and free up more wages for FFP?

True but it’s not as simple as that, think they had the best form in the league since Emery was appointed at one stage didn’t they , that sort of form isn’t sustainable in the long run as we all know, if it was then they would win the league next season.

Emery wouldn’t have gone near Villa unless he was told they had millions to spend , it way always going to happen. Still be very surprised if they finish anywhere near where we did last season.
