  1. Do we have confirmation if he's actually broken it over fractured it? I've read the time frame is quite different depending on that subtle difference.
  2. I trust Howe's judgement, but right now I'd need to see an improvement to justify it. He may just be rusty after such a long time out, but even then, he was very much a defensive fullback with minimal attacking output. That's fine when playing with ASM, but right now I'm hoping Targett plays the rest of the season.

It's mad to think just how little we invested in our defence and hoped to stay up. If you go back to the start of the season our back four had three players over 30, a pair of centre backs that cost a combined 11m, and two wingers as fullbacks. It wasn't like we were particularly ruined by injuries either. Lewis was the most expensive defender we'd bought since coming up. He was also the only defensive player we'd spent above £10m on.

Aye it's tough my mate is fine and we just laugh at whoever loses. I also played footy with a few one of whom wished me cancer when we won (I think he was pissed)

I do think it's worth noting some of their lot are very nice sensible folk. A very good friend of mine is one such example. I just think RTG is a magnet for the worst - and even then there's some canny sensible ones on there just being drowned out by the madmen.

He's showing more flickers of what made him instrumental last year. He's pressing he's winning it back in dangerous areas and he's driving forward. That's basically how we won today.
  7. fuck me, bit of perspective. They were languishing in the Championship a few years ago.
  8. He looks a lot safer when he has a confident physical partner alongside him like he did today.

FWIW, blinded by the Bruce. I look at someone like Fraser, someone that has spent his whole career in British football, speaks the language, and he had nothing good to say about Bruce. Now imagine you're a young Brazilian lad moving into a new culture with a brand new language and no one to really mix with. Your manager is a wheezing charlatan that offers you no individual instruction/development.

Mings is awful like. No chance Villa make the step up with him in the side. He's a bombscare.
  11. Just hope Trippier is ok. Another big performance. I think the mix of new faces and a big crowd has helped this lot massively.
  12. Not done for me. We've had some good results but we need to keep going. The threat is there, but the last few weeks have pushed me from a 10 to a 5.
  13. I only saw the first 45 but didn't look like one of his better games. Still a match winner and a lovely lad, so having less pressure on him to be decisive is only a good thing.
  14. Lads let's just enjoy the moment Sensational player. Even today, where I thought he looked a touch over eager defensively, he still made us solid and won us the game.
  15. I think Howe has been blessed by the fact we've won games so the necessity to throw him in isn't there. I think introducing him slowly is a solid approach for now. Jurgen Klopp has done similar in the past wit the likes of Andy Robertson and it does tend to benefit them in the long run. If he was an attacker I'd say throw him in, but given the responsibility and importance a CM carries with team structure I think it's smart to let him bed in and learn the system.
  16. I feel bad saying it but I almost already want Trippier in there at right back Decent shout for Enrique to be LB too.
  17. I hate to reference Graeme Souness, but I remember once a debate on Super Sunday about Pogba and 'tractors vs trailers'. I've been convinced for a long time that Shelvey is a trailer. He has the technical ability to be a tractor, but not the drive. He's not someone that deals well with adversity. When he sees people around him pushing and demanding more he can raise himself to that, but as a CM you're often a tone setter. I think Swansea realised quickly that he was never going to change so flogged him here. It may be hard to get rid of him, but I think we're watching his farewell tour right now.

I feel like Richardson hates us for some reason. The Ramble is the one I listen to most consistently. Their On The Continent offering and Luke's Game alone are grand.

Liew can write a lovely match report, but when it comes to actually discussing the game with nuance instead of description of events he falls down. He's not quite Barney Ronay, but he's close.
  21. If he's not 100% and there's a sniff of making it worse don't risk him. Let Manquillo take over.

I do wonder what the long play best case scenario is for the owners. If Richie Rich can only put in a few million and Methven/Stewart don't have the money to get them out of League One how do they ever anticipate surviving the Championship?
