I'll go out on a limb and say I'd value him between 2-3m. If you want him that much, that's not a massive fee to get in front of other suitors. He's shown some signs of promise, albeit not lately. Low risk, medium reward on Everton's part.

All well and good bringing players in on loan like EPA or Ramsey, but how much effort are they really going to put in over the next 4 months, knowing that if we do get relegated, they can just fk off and still claim their 400k p/w wages or take another offer elsewhere? Not convinced.

I read that Everton were rumoured to want £30m We allegedly offered £22.5m + Longstaff. So anywhere from £0-7.5m, as we don't know if we even wanted to meet their valuation. For example, we may value him at £5m, and thought our offer was the equivalent of £27.5m.. or £2.5m for an initial £25m package

Maybe the reason it wasn't 'official' is because we didn't confirm which Longstaff it was, hoping that we could just send both over to Merseyside without them noticing....

Hopefully this is not another story being leaked by someone in the club, similar to the Emery situation etc. It's slightly worrying that everything we do is "deal in principle confirmed" or leaked prior to it happening. I know with social media nowadays there are always rumours, but this appears to be far too frequent? Lots of Newcastle rumours at the moment though being linked with every man and his dog. Lazy journalism just because we've tons to spend and need players.

Think this and the comment it was replying to describes it brilliantly. Can be said for many a player that's played for us under Ashley, including Clark. Gayle was pretty good and scored plenty in the championship. Simply not good enough now. It goea right back, too. For all the shit and hate he got, James Perch always put a shift in for us and was a good utility player in the Championship (CB/RB/CM). Lots of short memories but I remember him winning several MOTM awards one year. The fact we HAD to play them isn't their fault.
