Great news. Lets actually get some value for our money by shopping in continental Europe instead.
-
Hope the reports are correct. Never wanted him for the quoted fee.
-
Is there no rumours at all atm?
-
Dont really remember people calling for him to be sold, just not used at LB.
-
The important thing is how they act professionally yeah.
-
This is one transfer where I don’t mind if it drags out. Hold out for the best deal possible I’d say.
-
The owners of Crystal Palace are business men. Selling him for £40-50m now instead of letting him go for free next season is good business. Unless Guehi himself wants to run down the contract Im pretty sure its going to happen.
-
I remember us all thinking that at the time. He came in and we beat Arsenal and Forest. But there is such a thing called coincidences. Think most of us agreed that it was just that it was after the losses to Everton and Brentford where he also started. I guess its true that we werent always the better side with Tonali instead of Longstaff, but Tonali always looked like the better player.
-
Well Eddie said he wanted to take advantage of other clubs being in the position we were last year.
-
I dont think we will either, but I think we could.
-
£30m in pure profit from Longstaff and Willock may be close enough to "fund" that spend for this season atleast. Probably would need a big sale next summer though, especially if we miss out of CL.
-
Yes but our commercial revenue has also increased to counter that. In 23/24 the deficit got reduced to £11m and this season cant be that bad either since we got pure profit from a couple of sales. With extra money from CL next season its hard to understand why we wouldn't be in a good position in regards to PSR.
-
Surely not. We havent invested in 3 transfer windows and next season we are getting rid of the 22/23 season when we had a deficit of £70m.
-
Barnes still has a book value around £25m so not a lot profit to get from him.
-
Surely there are some type of players that are better against it than others though. Im thinking players with tricky feets in small spaces and a killer pass/shot. Messi being a pretty good example
-
Last game against Everton was a pretty good example wasn't it? Other than that I haven't been keeping notes. Just a general memory of us looking kinda clueless against it.
-
Its not that i dont want a bigger squad and a player who can open up a low block. Its just that there must be better options out there. Him not thriving at City tells me that he is not that great against a low block anyways. He also has a contract of £15m a year. We can all imagine that City will cover a big chunk of this and/or he will accept a lower wage, but nothing suggests that tbh. If we are ever going to compete with the top 6 long term we need to be financially smart in everything we do. That generally means buying younger players with their better days ahead of them. I know that Trippier and Burn were exceptions to this rule and that it turned out to be great business for us. But both were cheap and we were at a different stage. Can't see Graelish sharing their story.
-
Technically sure. But in practice it was just like any of our other transfers. Just structured like a loan to get around PSR.
-
Although I dont want him, I agree that his "reputation" of being a dickhead is wrong. Seems like a nice enough guy who just made a little fool of himself with a drunken comment about Almiron.
-
Cant see us paying £60m. Max £45-50m.
-
Wtf is this shit of wanting to bring in a non-performing 30-year old Jack Graelish 😂 4 goals and 2 assists in his last 2 seasons in PL. Thats not how we do business anymore.
-
Well if he is interested in going there for the money I wouldn't want him anyways.
-
Hall wasn't a loan deal in reality. Targett ok, but it was the first window where we just had to get people in to avoid relegation.
-
It might be a coincident or a combination of the players he has infront of him. But I remember it from the previous season aswell that he always looked more dangerous in attack coming in from the left. By all means it very well might be that he has a potential on the right aswell that he is yet to unlock, but I think its safe to say that he hasn't unlocked it yet. On the defensive side of things i think he is awesome in both positions, so its not like I think he isn't a great RB, just feels like a more complete player on the left for now atleast.
-
It was a response to you saying he would be better at RB after a run there..
