The form last season really skewed the expectations of some and it’s unfortunate that some can’t see that, if you expected that form to continue because we further improved the squad then I don’t know what to tell you. We were poor today yes but this squad is still very weak at the top end of the pitch, if you believe this coach doesn’t have a plan of action on how to break down a low block then you are wrong.. but he’s only as good as the players he can put on the field. Sad that the more fickle knee jerky fans have already started but I expected it, if we don’t get a good run of results soon the emotion will gradually turn against him as it always does. He needs at least 2 more windows before we even know if he’s the right man to take us forward but he has all the attributes needed to do it.

Poor on the ball as per, his technical ability just doesn’t come close his other attributes. He’s great in this set up as his physical output and energy means he’s great in the press but going forward when he’s not just carrying the ball he’s weak and theres no other way to say it. Still love the big cunt.

Lots of possession and shots (mostly long range and not dangerous) is a given when you play a team set up like they did today, Id imagine Eddie is frustrated as we are watching that

It’s frustrating but when teams set up and are well drilled as these were today then we will see this type of match play out over and over again. We lack that attacking output to make the difference in games like these, the depth in quality is just not there yet in this squad. The next 2 windows will be busy on the attacking front, seems to me that we set out to build the base of this team starting at the back and we move forward up the pitch in adding the quality we need in our attacking positions.. people twisting about not doing enough in the windows so far is just plain blurted out frustration but understandable when you have to sit through games like that. Let’s remember this squad needed to be entirely reinvented top to bottom and that will take time and more than the £200m we’ve already splashed out. I said it time and time again on here this is a transitional squad in a transitional season. However I will question the performance today anyway, the lack of invention was slightly concerning given how much time we had to prepare for this one but again that falls on the heads of the players in the end. Constant crosses to no one when they are formed well in their low block isn’t going to cut it, we didn’t stretch them enough or move the ball quick enough. A slight lack of effort perhaps as we perked up briefly after the pen.. it’s a shame but it is what it is. On to the next one.

It’s why the fans that were saying top 6 should be the target this season were getting way ahead of themselves

We’ve been poor today, up against teams sitting deep pressuring to grind out a result we just don’t have enough going forward to make the difference. Going be really tough from here, and we just have not been good enough really..

They are closing down and pressuring really well, if they can keep it up for 90 mins it’s going to be difficult this. Not enough attacking quality to make the difference up, Isak must be frustrated as he’s had nothing to work with.

I expected Bruno to be starting in that position this season even if he was fit but I’m not so sure anymore, think he’d be pushed up alongside Joe with Shelvey sitting for more games than often when he’s back now
