Well, it's always cathartic to compare ourselves to a year ago and marvel at how far we've come. It is brilliant... and the team deserve every plaudit. But now it's a new year, it might be the time to forget about all that and start writing our future properly. If teams like Leeds are starting to find us out, we need to up our game accordingly. This is where upgrading wherever possible is going to count. And that's nothing that Eddie hasn't already thought about. He's on it. It takes time, so let's give him that time. No NUFC manager in recent years has deserved it more.

These days, we seem to be linked with every fucker out there. I can't keep up. I'll just see who is actually signed by the end of the month and pay less attention to the gossip / speculation / outright bullshit as appropriate. I'll say one thing - if we get less than what we expected (whatever that is), that only tells me that this team has done enough already to earn the support it gets. We'll surely see how good we are after this one. I remember attending Wembley Stadium on August 8th 1987 during the Mercantile Credit Football League Centenary - Football League XI vs Rest of the World XI. I was principally there to cheer on Beardsley at the time, but there were a host of famous names making cameos - Maradona, Josimar, Lineker, Futre, Alberto, Platini... and I must have been the only kid unaware that Pele himself was there to welcome the teams and present the trophies. I didn't believe it when someone pointed him out to me... THE Pele?! Nah... Then I saw his intro in the programme. That's it. I had seen the GOAT in the flesh. 35 years later and it still feels like yesterday. RIP GOAT.
