FFP/PSR only relates to football direct costs - not all club costs are counted. So while interest payments are included, debts generally are not. This can mean that new stadium costs can be met by clubs - and more importantly, leveraged buyouts don’t hit the PSR bottom line either

Good to know that the weird and borderline racist ‘sign players from Asia because we’ll get more sponsorship money’ crack is still alive and well. Something that I honestly hadn’t heard in about a decade and a half.

Got to just set up for the season as if he isn’t ever going to be available, no bugger will buy him now, he needs to be third choice going into the final year of his contract It is a bloody shame, I love the bloke as a player - a real old school no.9, absolutely is the part in that famous old shirt when he is fit. But he’s never fit for more than a few games.

No, I think there is something it. Hardly panic time, but Howe doesn’t make unguarded comments. The media talking like he’s about to leave is melodramatic, but it’s more that they’re making a lot out of something real rather than making shit up
-
Yep - Howe isn't exactly known for making unguarded comments. Clearly there is a concern for him - that doesn't mean he's handing in his P45 tomorrow, but it is also counter-intuitive for people to stick their heads in the sand and pretend that there is nothing to it.
-
Agreed, it could change elements of the rulebook - but we'll see. I don't think City winning the APT case is a shoo-in.
-
No underestimation from me - I've been scratching my head as to why it has taken so long to get so many of the obvious low-hanging sponsorship fruit through the door - training ground and kit in particular. The problem is that we're not Man Utd - not even close in terms of worldwide recognition or reach - so we won't attract the same size or number of deals, and the biggest deals are already done (kit, kit sponsors) - so what would the actual value be of all those additional sponsors you mention? 5m? 7m? 10m maybe? It isn't going to be earth-shattering. And we're not in Europe - which would of course have an impact - so you've raised an issue not a strength.

He did, so let's see what they are and what they're worth. I imagine the Man City FMV case might be something that they're waiting on. But we've already done the biggest commercial deals we're likely to do (kit manufacturers, shirt sponsors). So unless we're talking stadium sponsorship, any further deals are unlikely to produce huge sums of money.
-
Our revenues aren’t likely to increase much this year unless the vaunted new commercial deals make an appearance
-
My labradors do that when I ask them a question
-
They’re not likely to knock a billion or so off their value to do that, though.
-
It wouldn’t get you 30% of Spurs. I’d be surprised if it was more than 20%
-
Tbf, at least one of them knows it won’t happen because racism. Remind me of the background of the Reubens again?

I genuinely thought it had more noise than Highbury tbh - though I’ve visited the new ground as an away fan fewer times than I did Highbury
-
Doesn’t seem to worry Howe when we play Everton. Jack Charlton was a World Cup winner with England, but he was happy when his Irish team beat England. I don’t think that there is much credence to your theory tbh. England produces very few top managers relative to other leading football nations. I don’t think nationality makes a blind bit of difference, and I don’t think sentiment comes much into players and managers ‘wanting’ to win or not
-
I never missed going to Maine Road, it has to be said. Highbury was lovely, mind. But Arsenal’s new ground actually has an atmosphere. Don’t think West Ham’s move to the Taxpayer Stadium is a useful reference point.
-
I honestly believe that this is what tells us PIF’s intentions. If a state of the art brand new ground is on the agenda, they’re serious about NUFC joining the elite ranks. If it’s an extension to SJP, then they’re not. Just my take, I’m sure plenty will disagree.
-
Yep. There’s nowt special about the ground - in fact, it is outmoded and lopsided. It is the location that is special.

I'd happily see Klopp appointed England manager. Doubt he'd take it, but he should be a shoo-in if he was even remotely interested in the job. Don't think likeability comes into it.

Looks like Potter’s achievements were quickly forgotten …
-
If you don’t think Bellingham has great technical ability then we are never going to agree on who has
-
Yep, definitely. I think Howe’s a smart bloke and won’t just take anything as an assumptive. I still think England appoints either Potter or Carsley, as the FA will baulk at the idea of paying Howe’s likely substantial release fee. But I don’t think it’s a given that he just turns the job down because he’s got unfinished business at Newcastle. He might have always dreamed of the England job. I mean, I wouldn’t swap NUFC for England, but that’s me.
