Their support tends to preface it based on ‘biggest one club city’ type crack. But it’s not a one club city - it’s a two sport city. Swathes of them prefer rugby league.

The irony of a league containing Real Madrid whining about state-financed football clubs …
-
I didn’t mean it as an attack on Howe - it is a curio more than anything. I do think it is more suggestive that he did an incredible job in 21/22, and he’s doing a good job this season.
-
Another stat re form - we have now played as many games in the PL this season as we did under Howe in 21/22 - when he saved us from relegation. Results as follows: 21/22 - P27 W13 D5 L9 24/25 - P27 W13 D5 L9 He was doing equally well (as in exactly the same results) when the squad was made up almost entirely of relegation candidates - and we’ve spent a bob or two in the meantime.
-
I think we’ve played ok, I don’t think losing away to Liverpool is one to pin on the manager tbh. A proper refresh in the summer looks vital tbh - there’s too many players in the squad past their sell by date.
-
I don’t think there was an issue with the system tbf - I think Howe probably made the right call. It’s Anfield, not sure I’d expect much more tbh. Sloppy play has cost us more than any tactical call (though I do think Howe can be a bit too reactive with subs).
-
It’s not so much the lack of pace as the slowness on the ball which is becoming an issue. He was never the quickest - but he’s taken up the unnerving habit of dawdling on the ball before languidly playing a simple pass, allowing the opposition to move back into position.
-
He’s at fault for the first but it’s really sloppy play which costs us on both goals. Both were soft
-
Quadruple sub! Forgot that was even allowed
-
Ridiculously lackadaisical pass by Tonali that
-
Baaaaals

Yep. Liverpool can’t afford to take their foot off the pedal at only 1-0. We’ve pushed higher up and our FBs have been immense against their wingers.
-
I think BDB and Schar have had decent games here, but I really get nervous when they both push up towards the halfway line
-
I thought Willock looked ok tbh - Wilson’s movement (or movement offside) has left him without an option a couple of times.
-
Not the worst half we’re ever going to see - Hall was really impressive there, especially given who he’s up against. Soft as shite goal to concede of course. We’re definitely still in this.
-
Edit: double post
-
Out of form and it’s also likely that most teams have worked out ways to play against him. He doesn’t give the impression of someone looking forward to his next move - tbf his matches against the ‘big boys’ is instructive of where he sits in the football universe.
-
Don’t let Rod catch you with that new avatar mind - your taste will be questioned
-
Haha yep, more than likely. But before then I’m clinging onto some hope
-
Still some hope in this for us tbh
-
Probably, though he’s finishing like a player who’s not played much for a long time. Massively rusty.
-
Fuuuuuuck. Callum lad.
-
Much better this

We definitely will 😁
