  1. They’re constantly finding themselves running into blind alleys. Mixture of stupidity and arrogance at this point. Need to wake up.
  2. Yeah, England have been poor for most of this tournament. The tactics are just bizarre. Several Colombian shirts surrounding each English player when in possession in their half - but they’re struggling to counter that. Then it just ends up in pointless hoofball.
  3. Haha is it still rough as guts? Haven’t been in for about 20 years
  4. Still pissed off that I’m not there. Had to give away my ticket due to illness. Only half an hour down the road from me.
  5. Glad the owner told you and no-one else. Good old Yasir
  6. Maybe those who always offered to move Leazes Terrace brick-by-brick to Beamish could use those skills to move the Strawberry to a Skinnerburn Road?
  7. I try to ignore that Howe is one of those types. He’s read ‘The Secret’ and all that type of stuff. If it works for footballers, great. I’d want to ploat anyone who went on like that at my work though.
  8. That bit is funny. Easy for us to forget that Chelsea are the most successful English club in Caicedo’s lifetime.
  9. In fairness there is more to it than that - Spanish, German and Italian players aren’t exactly dotted around Europe. The strength of the domestic league - especially how much you’ll earn - has a massive impact. Almiron still can’t speak fluent English, despite most of career being spent in two different English-speaking countries. I do think it would be good for more British players to play overseas - as many did in the ‘80s and early ‘90s - but I do understand why it is rare these days.
  10. It was as much about hearing that he was obsessed with breaking the record for me. It’s such a weird, arbitrary record. I hate the ‘football started in 1992’ bollocks.
  11. Bill Hicks had a point re marketing types
  12. I had thought the Longbenton site was earmarked for housing. HMRC is of course moving to a site in the city centre owned by the Reubens. Because why wouldn’t the Revenue want to work in office owned by tax-avoiders? Makes sense to me.
  13. It has - both sides have basically missed open goals at this point. Hasn’t been the worst entertainment-wise, for me
  14. It was an absolute rocket like. As good a penalty as you’ll ever see - that mad little hop clearly does something. Like Mr Miyagi’s crane technique being applied to football
  15. France absolutely dominant here - still think the French keeper is iffy though, which leaves it open.
  16. ‘The Quayside Stadium’ has a good feel to it to me
  17. Ooh - Shearer’s record with pens at decisive moments really wasn’t great.
  18. You can 100% see why the arena site would appeal. It’s still in the city centre (just), it takes roughly the same length of time to walk there as SJP does in terms of most of Newcastle’s pubs (I’m sure a key consideration for owners …), it’s much closer to the train station, and dramatic aerial shots above the ground on match days would have the city’s bridges lined up behind it. It’s actually a more visually appealing location if done right. Not saying we will move there. But it wouldn’t be the worst idea.
  19. Both of which are actually in KSA
  20. Normally reserved for ambassadors that one
  21. It was 11th August here in Australia before anywhere else - well, apart from NZ and a few Pacific Islands. So I was expecting we’d get it first.
