  1. Fuck me that’s even worse - I’ve got them mixed up then He’s going nowhere fast, then …
  2. He’s on £42k per week for another two years. He’s unlikely to earn that elsewhere - he doesn’t strike me as someone arsed about playtime.
  3. Some finish that. Turgid first 80 mins, epic last 10 (+7). Spain deserved it for me - but Sweden are cursed in semis.
  4. I love how it only takes one season to convert a sizeable chunk of Durham to being B&W. They weren’t before that; oh no, of course not. They were R&W. But they’ll be R&W again once it all falls apart. You’ll see.
  5. Kilcline is the right answer for me - even though he was at the club 18 months, he only really played for the first four or five of that. Without Killer, we go down to Division Three and potentially no longer exist.
  6. I have to say I find links between us and one of the Sky Six’s players the least exciting of all.
  7. A RCB makes the most sense to me. Especially a bloody quick one.
  8. No, I hate the entire week before the game. Can’t sleep the night before. Hate it.
  9. No, I don’t think they would take the approach of trying to do it, nor do I think they’d care on a personal level re Newcastle vs Sunderland. But the intensity of the fixture would absolutely get to them once it started - and useless knackers mistiming challenges and leaving boots in likely would happen. Bollocks to them - I’m at a loss as to why we’d even need to play them. Not one of my favourite games involved them. If we beat them 10-0 it still wouldn’t figure.
  10. Aye, the Pardew teams were weak as piss in terms of intensity. The likes of Joelinton would love that atmosphere. I just feel zero compulsion to play the cunts. None whatsoever. I’ve seen us beat them plenty of times.
  11. First year we qualified for the ‘Champions League’ - by finishing second - was also a season where they were relegated by finishing second bottom. We scraped a late Alan Shearer equaliser for a 1-1 at SJP. Don’t get me wrong, I think the current side beats them nine times out of ten. But the idea that we’re guaranteed x or y result by a huge score line is simply not the case. But I’d still be more concerned by a useless sack of shite like O’Nien putting Bruno out for the season.
  12. You'd think we went out of the cup to third division sides two years in a row the way some of us go on ...
  13. His form dipped towards the end of last season, but I still think Son is the better player on the left of all those options. Kane is obviously better than Wilson - and I think Isak is going to be world class, so whether I’d swap those two is a bit trickier.
  14. I’d be more concerned with one of their cloggers being ‘well up for it’ and injuring one of our key players. Hard pass for me. Let them rot.
  15. Almost all football chants are just cheesy remakes of pop songs - it’s just that writer is usually ‘Anon’. At least we can blame you now One of my abiding memories of Feyenoord away in 2002 is repeatedly singing our own bastardised version of ‘Rotterdam’ by the Beautiful South …
  16. Tony Christie isn’t that bad
  17. If we do that, I suspect we'll all temporarily lose our minds. This thread will become 'The Toponeometer' for starters.
  18. Great at football. Shite at charades
  19. Agreed re contract length, though I think the chances of Real Madrid coming a’calling are close to zero at the moment
  20. I think he’s a wee bit cheeky with the contract stuff at present tbh. Again, I thought he played perfectly fine - but it was another 2023 Bruno display. I’m not seeing why he needs a bumper new contract at present.
  21. There might be no NUFC, tbh. It’s why those outside the region who sneer at KK or the ‘Messiah’ narrative, the ‘you never won fuck all’ brigade don’t get it. It wasn’t that we all want to see us lose 4-3 every week. It was that a figure of national significance - and KK was that - knew what this place was and what it could be. They think it was just about football and trophies, missing the point entirely. Hope - in a place devoid of it - is a wonderful thing.
  22. I think that’s it, tbf. I don’t doubt that Howe is tactically more astute and the ultimate modern manager. There’s a good chance we end up with a Howe statue outside the ground, assuming he wins some of those shiny pot things. I love having him at NUFC - he inspires hope via his professionalism and quality. But KK was the biggest name in English football - and the one man who absolutely believed in what the club and city could be. And he made sure that we all believed that too. It went beyond football - a club, city and region that had suffered what seemed to be terminal decline being inspired by the ultimate motivator. I’ve written it before on here, but this is the club that Kevin built. That there isn’t a stand named in his honour is a joke, frankly.
  23. Wasted talent that lad. Wasn’t the only time he looked good.
  24. I reckon he’ll become the first player in history to appeal for a yellow card edit: he was superb again. Of course.
  25. It’s lacking in ‘arrrgh’ ‘ooorhhah’ ‘hahahaha’ tbh
