  1. What does the club doctor say though? Joelinton would need to be chained to his hospital bed before he'd admit to being unable to play
  2. Like you, I also dislike cherries on cakes - so the old adage is probably meaningless for me. Fruit + cake = evil. Give me proper sugar any day of the week.
  3. Don't know if it has already been said, but Arsenal's form for the last third of the season has been mid-table form. For all of the pundits' 'they'll learn from this, be back next year' patter - I wouldn't be so sure of that.
  4. Mackematics at work again I see. ‘So Timmy, if the black and white team gets one more point, how many can the red team get in total?’
  5. Yep, I’m not at home to sympathy when it comes to them. I laughed like a drain at the Lu’on result. Baaaaals to them.
  6. While it would be great to finish 3rd - which always feels like a ‘podium finish’ - have to say that would just be the hundreds and thousands on top of the fucking muckle big cake this season has been - CL qualification would be the cherry
  7. The same would be written regardless of the team involved. They still have an outside chance. We’ll wrap it up on Monday though.
  8. I mean, it does because they would have been dead without it. All over bar the shouting now though.
  9. I’d also say he’s of limited ability at this level. He isn’t a top level footballer. The lad works his bollocks off and has a massive heart though, and he’s a decent PL player. He’s immensely likeable.
  10. And a timely reminder for our lot next year - European football policing standards are fucking terrible. Be careful
  11. Great post. And the highlighted bit is also a pet hatred of mine - ten grand a year to become a fucking sports hack. If they really are that fucking useless, they should be paid no heed whatsoever.
  12. Yeah, the 5-4 was a classic. I missed McGhee’s winner as the atmosphere in the Milburn paddock was raucous after Quinn made it 4-4 and my dad took me off his shoulders. So the winner for me was basically the back of some bloke’s coat. The 2-1 was at Filbert Street so I didn’t count it - but it (along with Portsmouth at home the game before) is probably the most important day in NUFC’s history (though in the end we didn’t need the win)
  13. If Villa do us a favour this game may lose a fair amount of relevance tbf. I still think they’ll get a point at Anfield.
  14. Ah well. At least your football team looks like it might win something in the next couple of years.
  15. Fair dos - I think if Wilson had the opportunity to play in a better NUFC side after joining he’d have a couple of 20-goal seasons under his belt. We are a good side now - and he’s bagging the goals. It’s also a much, much stronger PL these days. That isn’t to knock Sir Les of course - who was an exceptional no 9
  16. Aye, absolutely true - and I realise it is a bit of a whinge after a 4-1 win against an excellent Brighton team I agree that the goals started coming again after the switch - and I prefer the gung-ho style of play. But for me it is clear how we could tighten up next season with a couple of signings - while keeping our balls-to-the-wall attacking and pressing game
  17. Can’t decide if the 7-1 in ‘93 or the 4-3 in ‘97 was my favourite game vs Leicester at SJP. The 7-1 is burned into the memory banks because of the entire day, but the 4-3 was definitely the better game in the end (we were utterly shite for 75 mins mind)
  18. Cisse being moved to the left the following season Pardewed him. Ba at least played well as a wide forward (albeit the goals dried up). Cisse was an instinctive centre forward - Pardew was a fucking idiot switching him out wide
  19. I said it when he wasn’t in form, happily say it again - Wilson is our best proper no 9 since Shearer. He’s on a par with Ferdinand to me - both handsome bastards, too.
  20. Yep, the only negative for me. Our defence is now making the switch-offs a clockwork occurrence in our matches. We’ve kept one clean sheet in nearly half a season’s worth of games - and I think if we watch the games back, the vast majority are conceded very softly. The lack of pace at the back leaves us very, very vulnerable to simple passes through or over the back line. Burn isn’t tucking in like he was earlier in the season - he’s bombing forward and the centre halves are stretched. If we play like that we need a no 5 with a bit of pace - Botman isn’t going to get any quicker.
  21. I’m glad for them. Hope they win it. The sleepiest of sleeping giants - they’ve had a torrid couple of decades (and a bit). I do have a soft spot for them.
  22. This feed is much quicker than the Beeb’s
  23. True, though if you take a 4-0 lead into a second leg and you’re clinging on for dear life by the end of the match you’ve left yourself a bit open to being screwed like that. Thats not to say that I wouldn’t be furious though.
