  1. He's probably even done a thesis on how to avoid the curse (as was) of the 'manager of the month' award.

"who has enjoyed many years of coming up to Roker park in the 80`s" - this could just be stupidity instead of bullshit, but they only actually played there twice in the 80s. Was 10,000 at one of them, just for the record.
  3. Mind its about time we got Blackburn in a cup, its been all of a few seasons now since the last one
  4. Bit of justice for the league game in there. Hope its not a momentum killer, though suppose most of us are in the same boat.
  5. Were reassuringly not winning penalties. One of the few constants in an ever changing world.
  6. Same cup, same round. Last nights fixtures read like a 3rd Division fixture list plus Everton, tonight's reads like a top-flight one.

Incredible how they can do things like that down to the minutia but float a myth like us being fickle just last week. We've been outside the top 7 best supported clubs three times in 40years (all in the 2nd Division, all with boycotts and could well be called an exception) and only twice outside the top nine. I might contest this with anyone but from these zig-zag f*ckwits!? Notes: they drop when NUFC aren't around 85, 93, 04, 17) and the 1992er theory not holding up, their gates remaining the same as the 80s.

She'll be the 40,000th mackem to say that whilst eating garbage like a pig, covered in muck and dressed like shit, but at least she'll be doing a bush tucker challenge.

Worst thing is they can't leave early to avoid the crowds, because the crowds are all outside singing away ticketless for the lads.
  10. Love atmosphere's like today for games. Leeds Bournemouth referencing. The first Saturday 3pm when the floodlights come in.
  11. Yeah. Scored at Wolves the week before, thought he was going to be the next big thing. Was just the next Tim Buzzaglo
  12. Like the early days of Bryan Wade, Brighton coming from 2-0 to 2-3 at Wolves.
  13. I've heard 2-3 and Stevenage down to ten - but flashscores is reading 3-3

Atmosphere sounds rank and moany. The 20,000 in the car park need to make their voices heard. Lets be having you car park lads.

    On this day...

Radio Magpie launched, in 1994. Cracking little game against QPR too. We were still top of the charts at the time.
  16. Impossible to call down there, from memory never known it like this before. Does feel like a very good job Villa sacked Gerrard at this point, cos they seem about the most lifeless

It was the first televised FA Cup shoot-out. The first from the 3rd round (depends whether people factor in R1 R2) Just guessing here but we must have been the first team to lose two televised penalty shoot-outs in the same season. Amazing how a club with so many fans all around the world that's only recently began to lose territory in the North East again has only filled their stadium less than 10% (and that's generous) of the time since it opened. They must count fans as people that are inclined towards Sunderland by parentage or watch Netflix documentaries and not whether there's any interest whatsoever in actually going to games or the club itself. They're not fans marra. That's just people.

    FIFA World Cup

One of the reasons I'm okay with our takeover is because for 20years before it this is where football has gone, against my wishes. If our takeover was the first of these sorts of things I'd have been against it but for 20years from Abramovich to the last world cup I've been told its good for football and geopolitics doesn't matter and feel were just playing the game that they created. Until very recently there seemed as much concern about this World Cup as the one in the US - with fears they'd change the rules, size of the goals, quarters rather than halves and going to a non-football country.

Keep such things handy on the laptop. They always come up. Saves any reasearch.

I could just let them go, but then they'll come up with stuff like this unchallenged. There's an irony in them flagging up certain occasions in that it highlights them as exceptional rather than something common place. (ourselves, Man U). When they took 15k-200k (estimates vary) to Manchester City for a crucial game. The week before they got 22,000 at home to Arsenal. 22,000 was their average. They took x amount to the league cup final (who doesn't) but had a half-empty stadium for the semi-final against Man United and a more than half empty 20,000 in the Quarter-Final against Chelsea. (Who else has ever done that?) Before the 1992 FA Cup final that 40,000 plus came out the woodwork for, their last league gate was 19,000 and their next home gate was 16,000. The cup run started with a 15,000. They were mid-table, we were bottom. We got 26,000 the same round for a televised game against Bournemouth pre Keegan with hardly any Bournemouth fans. 28,000 against us in 92/93 was preceded and followed by 14,000 and 15,000 gates. 40,000 against us in 05/06 was preceded and followed by gates of 28,000 and 29,000. 15,000 for an FA Cup game at home to Arsenal in 96, the same night we had a 36,000 sell-out against Charlton Its a cheek because along with Villa I consider them the most fickle fans in the country. (Villa would get 45k against Man U one week and 15k against Norwich the next back in the day).

Maybe THE goal that could best sum up the FA Cup (before they ruined it)

84/85 02/03 and 05/06 too. Even if getting record low points in the latter two (ha ha) provides them with some cover then were responsible for that. I like the distinction though of celebrating qualifying for the champions league twice whilst they were relegated whereas they celebrate qualifying for four points ahead, when were relegated. Almost like they celebrate our demise rather than any acievements of their own, because there aren't any, or something.
