Yeah but who are we to talk. Were not as big as Blackburn, Preston or Leicester.

Its like Platoon in here "a civil war in the platoon, half the men with Elias (ASM), half with Barnes. There's a lot of suspicion and hate. I can't believe we're fighting each other'
  5. Good to read so many good stories. Was a bit worried it could be scuppered by some people not parking their non-football biases that I've read and the way young uns can be now. Was at Ally McCoist's testimonial and that's how it was then and its a night that's lived with me. Scarves raining down on us and women blowing kisses. Singing each others songs during the game. I just think that's the way to do it regardless of whether you've an inclanation otherwise or none at all. My dad worked up there when I was a kid and said the people were great. obviously you cant generalise, but that's always been my experience.
  6. Think what I'll miss most is the promise/threat having him on the bench brings. I cant think of any type of player you'd more want to introduce to the fray theoretically. That being said its probably best all round. If fit he'd have gotten good game time with the CL but never guaranteed starts, we get money (35-40m hopefully) in for a squad player that can be reinvested into the club as the manager sees fit and a player that would start more and he'll be entertaining in that league.

Parked their imaginary high horses to sing "die die Geordies f*cking die" in Gateshead according to RTG Which is at least being called out by some.

"I get told off by her in doors for calling them terrorist supporting scum to their faces. She thinks I'll get hit. Will prove my point if I am though, hopefully right in front of cctv" So what point does abusing people and not getting hit prove? also were going down "Hope they get absolutely battered in the champions league one team always struggles in both Europe & & Premiership West Ham were lucky to stay up this season with arguably better players" "
  9. Ha I once got asked, possibly jokingly possibly not given these were the dark days, outside Ibrox by a guard if the black and white striped shirt I was wearing was St Mirren. So that's definitely progress. Mind I was back at Ibrox a few years later watching us beat Rangers under Keegan.
  10. There's a bit in Beresford's interview where he says Dalglish bollocked him and threatened to take him off if he went over the halfway line again against PSV. Shocking in a "I knew it" kind of way. Made worse by Beresford probably being our second top scorer at the time too. We lost 1-0, game was absolutely shit and I'll bet Dalglish was quite satisfied.

Seen a Barcelona, Argentina, Fiorentina and two Nice shirts at centre-court in the last day. Have to presume fans of Real Madrid, Espanyol, Brazil, Bologna and Monaco are hopping mad about that as it cant be the mackems being weird.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Chiesa was my dream signing with the Euros were on and the takeover was still rumbling away. So cant bring myself to get into this one. Old man Chiesa was linked in 1996. Shearer's first serious injury was 92. Was intimidatingly good for Blackburn then and Haalanding up the joint with 22 goals by Boxing Day when he got injured.
  13. Least the sun sort of got out for it. Signed old Daveed in the middle of the then hottest summer on record thankfully. "Three weeks I'm here, very hot, always the sun, is like Saint Tropez"

True. You cant go anywhere in a black and white shirt minding your own business without being intimidated into cowering or left speechless at a mackem salient point or witicism. Even Bali.
  15. When were talking about productivity I think were forgetting Ginola/Gillespie's constant supply to Ferdinand being the most prominent feature of our attacking in those days. Every time either had the ball on the flank it was a threat. Too right. As good at tackling as he was nut-megging, scorer of worldies, creator supreme whilst having a 'water-carriers' work ethic. As highly rated as he is, it doesn't seem enough when you think about it.

97-21 in Newcastle's favour. Jeezus. Knew it was something like but have been selling us short stating it as "something like 80-20 out of the last 100" which alone is trouncing enough.

What a hero for confronting this miscreant wearing a shirt in front of his children.....if it happened at all. You can take it to the bank though as Hank's not the sort to make something up
  18. Inter/Milan, Bayern, Real Madrid and Barcelona did and looked alright despite having gates a lot more sparse than that for lesser games. Bernabeau might have looked sparse when there was 25,000 there for Leeds and Milan (doesn't show as much) when there was 10,000 there for a CL qualifier....but the other 95% of games probably made up for it.
  19. Like the Lazio one for Gazza "Gazza lads we are here, shag women drink beer"
  20. Its just a personal thing. People obviously selling out in various ways bothered me (being young and hoping things weren't so shallow) and Blackburn were my first taste of it. Rubbing salt into the wounds by being defensive and dull despite the outlay (relative to the other top teams of the day) and selfishly probably worried me that a benefactor could just render the advantage of our growth/support redundant.

    St James' Park

Maybe there is an incentivising people in Leazes Terrace to accept a loss of light. Remembering clubs have bought streets to demolish them for new stands before, admittedly the street next to Ewood Park that Jack Walker bought and flattened was hardly Leazes Terrace standard.

I heard he has a previous conviction for doing some robin.
  23. Agree with many of the above. Everyone that thought it was a hoot the way Ashley ran us can eat s**t, this is their receipt. I always felt uncomfortable when clubs were ran badly, as a fan myself, never took glee from it (Brighton in the 90s, Leeds due to Ridsdale) so anybody that was with us, I have to say fair enough being as I didn't like the money at Blackburn, Chelsea and Man City (to a much lesser extent because was completely out of love with the game by then). Never applied human rights to it admittedly, just concerned with the vulgar amount of money.
