Was mates at school with a guy with that surname. Played football and Magic Pockets together. If that's not a sign then I don't know what is

Deserves it (baring in mind its only based on the PL, re Pep). Sure he'd just as soon fly under the radar as I've found suits the way were doing things. Hope he's recharging somewhere too, he's earned that as well.

How many people got to those Platinum club beambacks does anybody know? Was standing room only whenever I was there. Was a surprisingly good experience, raw, basic - basically a massive pub with a live Toon match. Fanzones not so much by the looks of them and from experiencing that Euro'96 round the corner from SJP, which at least smelt like beer due to the breweries.

The simplistic story went that Quinn sold Short a bill of goods and Short would pump money in provided they got 40k+ gates. Think Quinn's eagerness to ferry them to the ground and shut down pubs showing the matches stemmed from this. Whether he himself knew how heavily papered and cheapened those early years gates at the Stadium of Light were when he played who knows. But they were exceptional rather than a rule to base things on in any case. Thats where the notion of the lack of support comes in. Basically the opposite of the Keegan/Hall era. The fans kept coming, kept paying nd the club kept growing so the club kept spending.

Thank god for FFP protecting the non-elite clubs.

Spent the dark days 89/90 - 1991 part of 91/92 in the paddock. The whole of that miserable 90/91 just about there and my first ever game was a few steps forward from that very spot on a similarly drizzly day. Does look safe-standing-esque in that photo by comparison. No dip at the front, the hazard lines, railings. Thought that was more of a 94/95 thing or maybe that was the first time I noticed it sitting opposite courtesy of Barnsley bringing next to no support for the league cup tie.

Reckon its the far end of the Leazes end next to the entrance in the corner. There was building work going on at the time in the paddock, where I initially thought it might be in the opposite corner, looks a bit too worn to be brand new.

Overseas and any stimulant and viola.

That's what worries me. Justice not prevailing.

59/60k could be agreeable now but this is just the start and we'd be selling ourselves short long-term. We cant sell ourselves short if/when we expand like the 90s then requiring an expensive extension instead of building bigger in the first place.

Ah yes those magical European nights. Like the last time they were in Europe in 2017/18 when they got 17,000 against Atalanta and 27,000 against Lyon.

If they sign MacAllister for 60m it'll be £100m so far in 2023 and £200m in 11months. No ceiling c**ts

Bit too MotM being the goal scorer and driver of the day being the race winner for my pallet

When Luton were being relegated out of the topflight last, Leeds were being crowned champions and Leicester had last day heartbreak
-
Wont be dressed up as this but that was marginally less undramatic than expected.

Typical end of season fare. Last time we qualified for the Champions League this was a 2-2 draw at West Brom with a much changed side and the time before that a comfortable loss at Southampton
-
A Bruno Brooks midfield. What next Keith Chegwin defence?
-
Disappointing level of criticism of the players (and manager). Will never get a better chance to chill the fuck out and deal with the imperfections of a football match that have always been and will always be there.

Mitro ffs you unreliable radge

Could be an old school daft last day of the season scoreline or two today, way its going.
-
Leeds could do an Everton circa 94 yet. Based on no logic obviously. Situation is pretty identical. Everton for Sheffield United, Leiceter for Ipswich and Leeds for Everton, even gone an early goal down and everything. Whilst we played a relaxed final game having already qualified for Europe.

Nice story still I suppose. As it happens found out would have preferred Coventry. Was at the 94 cup game there, got on the tele pre-match head stuck in the programme, doubt will ever get back with half the away end cut off now. Even then with everybody bar Walsall, Millwall and Scunthorpe at their original stadium just about it was weird. Thought of the town as more of a dump than the stadium iirc. Remember Ruel Fox, cup tied, sitting by the tunnel pretty close to us and a bloke with a trumpet directly in front.

I was thinking Scott Hall's hall of fame acceptance speech when I seen it and seems to be. Another excuse for..
