Think he got a lot right last night. putting Pope back in, BigJoe back in and Wissa up front. It turned out to be the right decision to play Gordon again, a bit of a shame Barnes on the right but he deserved to start as well albeit not in the best position. When we were under the pump in the 2nd half, most people were screaming for some subs, but he held on, allowing the player's on the field to manage the situation. That shows trust and builds confidence that we can pull through tough times in an away fixture, even if it was lowly Burnley. This should stand us in good stead for the coming fixtures. Admittedly it could have gone south as well but you have to make the calls and at the end of the day it turned out well for us.

Massive 3 points, the table looking much better, we four points off 5th and hopefully last night was a shot in the arm for the upcoming games. We suffered and came out on the right side of the result for a change. Can imagine those last minute losses or draws must have been tough to take and then come out and do it again each week. Wasn't a performance to rave about but it was a necessary result considering the circumstances.

He has been validly getting a lot of stick but I think he is coming into form and the last couple of games have been a massive improvement, despite not always having a measurable outcome each time. Not a fan of him going down too easily and I dont think the headband look helps but we need him firing if we want to climb up the table. I feel for Barnes being shunted to the right but I get Howes thinking persevering with Gordon, especially up against arguably one of the best RBs the PL has seen in the recent past. Gordon needed to lay down a marker early and did so. His work rate was also right up there winning balls back. It wasn't perfect, it wasn't consistent but it was a damn sight better than in some of our other away performances. Onwards and upwards!

Full Backs a massive priority in the window. Hall has been immense thus far and Miley has stood in admirably, but we simply must get reinforcements. Thought the defense was out on their feet after about 70 mins or so, understandably so as they been playing each game. Need to be decisive, early in the window..but I say that each window and end up being glued to the screen on deadline day, hoping for a loan move

He should, but I have a feeling Eddie may stick with Gordon in the hope that this is the game it clicks for him. We need Gordon firing on all cylinders if we want to go on a run, so Eddie may persevere with him

I would be okay with, same GK and back four Bruno Tonali BigJoe Murphy Wissa Barnes Would be happy if we get both Wissa and Wally on the pitch at the same time. These are likely going to sit deep and try and hit on the counter

Probably the wrong thread for this and for the record I hope Howe stays until he decides he wants to go and considering the man's integrity, I don't think he will hang around if he does not feel he is able to progress the team. So he has my full support and I am looking for him to show he is dealing our issues, starting tonight. Where do we have to be before Howe is at serious risk of losing his job? Let's say our away form continues like it has, we go out of all cups and dont qualify for next stage of CL and we flirt with relegation ultimately finish 14th in the league? Do our owners accept this as a once off and back him in the summer window? or do they start having doubts?

Would like nothing more than for him to turn it around again and lead us to further glory. As much I hated the result last night there was some improvement in our performance but thats off a terribly low base and not enough to put a mediocre Manure team to the sword. So I am looking to see improvements that we moving in the right direction, even is that is slowly. Howe has earned the chance to turn it around but there has to be visible improvements. Previous success should not mean a free hit season, he has to show he is fixing shit and that we getting better output from underperforming players. I wish he could be a bit more radical in his changes during the game, in particular when its there for the taking or we chasing it. The Jan window is going to speak volumes about how the club view our prospects for the remainder of the season. Personally I think we need a shot in the arm with a signing or two, the club may think they have enough in the building for a massive run.

What then was the rationale for bringing him in, we were never going to play like Forest, unless there was a view that he could be moulded into a more versatile player?

He is just so incompatible with our way of playing. I thought and said that when we bought him and gave EH the benefit of the doubt, allowing time to assimilate but more than 4 month later he is still wholly incompatible with our style of play and I cannot see him building a relationship with Wally. They are complete contrasts. Would really love for him to succeed, not least because of the sizeable investment but I doubt that. Not even sure the return of Wissa up front might bring about better outcomes.

The whole credit in the bank thing only applies when you can see progress in solving the current issues. I am seeing a bit of progress but not enough to expect a change in the results. Big January window needed which I hope is used to give some impetus to this team and change the direction of travel. If we still plodding about with the same players and the same approach to games in Feb, then I am afraid the die is cast

Surely, surely we have to acknowledge that there is a distinct lack of individual creativity in the squad that needs addressing? We are one dimensional and rely on trained patterns of play but have limited time on the training pitch which we knew would happen due to our schedule. Will we ever see a CAM in Howe's time here?

Not sure where we go after this....its Burnley away and I cant tell you which Newcastle is going to pitch up. There is something seriously wrong with the squad and how we going about things. We need a big signing or something to give this team a lift, hoping to get through this patch doing the same thing with the same players is only going to yield the same results. and that obviously won't be good for Howe

Not in the 'Howe out' camp, but losing against these with their list of unavailable players would be just one notch down from losing the derby. It would be wholly unacceptable and leave me with no confidence that we can go on a run to push for European places. They are perfectly set up for a hiding and this is usually when we dont turn up. Surely not this time again?

And if Osula goes, which seems to be the case, we may need to bolster the front line. Really not keen on Gordon as a CF option.

Is there any concrete evidence that there is an intention to buy in Jan? Just doesn't seem to be something Eddie likes doing. Gordon was our last first team buy in 2023 and it took him 5 weeks before he started his first game. I would like us to buy someone who can make an impact on arrival, think we need a bit of a lift but that would mean buying top quality and those are generally not available in Jan, especially in a WC year. So I am expecting nothing to happen.

We have to be up for this game no matter what. For me this game will be all about who can bring the intensity and sustain it and our midfield should be able out muscle theirs. The attacking three need to be pressing them, get their crowd on their back and they crumble. If we pitch up like we did for our previous away games I'm throwing my TV out the fucking window.
