Against City I never expect anything from the refs or VAR. When Joelinton went down without the refs intervention, I just knew it wouldn't be given, just because it's Man City. Against a bottom half side I would have hope, and no doubt they would spend atleast a minute looking at it. And I agree, I was really surprise when we were given the first pen.

He certainly isn't on Howes list of players who can drop 10 stinkers in a row and still get picked. But playing Trippier over him looked okay today I'd say.
-
They said that we were lucky to get the 1st one, and pretty much said that it wasn't a pen. I never thought anyone would even discuss that one.
-
Livra has stalled a bit I feel.. Hope he will get back to business.
-
Many picked him above options like Smith Rowe. There's a reason as to why most of them has transferred him out already, he didn't live up to expectations. You only need to read this thread a few pages back to see the hype before the season, and after 1-2 games. Edit: not a high overall %, but amongst more serious players I thought he was overly picked.

I agree with them that Gordon knows what he's doing when he plays it past the goalkeeper, but that doesn't change the rules. They later started talking about consistency in refereeing. Not giving that pen would me the most inconsistent thing you would ever see. He got to the ball first, meaning Ederson was late.
-
I was thinking this aswell, but a bunch of people put him in their FPL team and expected him to be killing it, so there was clearly high expectations.
-
Watching Shearer and Given. Shearer said that Gordon initiates the contact. Gordon was just running at full speed.. Even said that there was not enough of a touch? Show me a situation where that is not given..
-
The studio thinks we shouldn't have had a pen? This nearly allways gets given.
-
He just needed a run of games as pointed out earlier. Glad he got it. Hope it continues. I hope we give Tonali a run of games aswell now.
-
On the bench today. Probably a bit of rotation, but it seems like he isn't exactly the finished product yet. Just some real potensial.
-
Absolutely. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I saw a long list of dodgy decisions going their way in the last few seasons. They don't have many of those against them, barely ever happens. Meanwhile they get some shocking decisions their way, where even a kid can tell that the ref and VAR is in the wrong. You start to wonder at some point.
-
Everytime we play Man City, they get the benefit of the doubt from refs in close call key decisions. Strange that.
-
Why was there noone there?

Classic game vs top sides where we play well but still lose. It's hard to match them on efficiency..
-
So aggressive early minutes
-
Being okay with a loss highly depends on the performance, regardless of how much we lose by. Even a 1 goal loss would be disappointing if we are really poor.
-
Would be madness if he still didn't see what everyone else saw. Would be near shocking if he didn't put Tonali in after that performance. Not an easy task coming straight in to play Man City, mind..
-
He had a break due to Euros, and he also got injured I think. He wasn't expected to start for them the first few games, hence why people didn't pick him on FPL.

That's true, it could have been the right option. We haven't been selling anyone who has performed to some degree, it's what separates good selling clubs from less good ones. But, I must say that from what I saw, almost noone was talking about the striker position after this summer window. This was kind of the point I was getting at. I suppose the damage was already done when we didn't sell Wilson a while ago, but that doesn't have anything to do with this window.
-
I think the problem with Wilson would be lack of interest from other clubs. Getting a right winger could've helped though, in situations where Gordon will play upfront.
-
The summer window was undoubtedly pretty bad, but we got the striker profile that we thought we needed. Other positions would've been the priority.
-
His numbers aren't the best, but what we've seen since his return has been promising. I wonder what the real reason behind the numbers are, because there are some possible explanations other than saying that he's not an elite passer. The riskyness of the passes and the connection with his teammates, for instance.
-
There was several people who argued that it seemed fine to sell him back then, so not really hindsight, no. But we don't know what Bayern actually offered either.
-
We need to start looking for a new right back. Possibly even someone who can atleast match Livra, but is a little bit older than him. We probably won't buy that in january.
