Well hopefully they do need the money, even after Olise, but I’m not aware of their financial situation.

Have noticed Romano hasn’t said anything about this. Probably a good thing.

    Malick Thiaw

Yes, seems it’s Thiaw for now

They don’t have to. Many clubs choose not to. If he has a good season, pushes them up the table a bit more then they’d still get decent money for him with a year left on his deal. They may also be hoping he changes his mind in that time.

It’s a delicate situation. Palace would on the face of it, not need to sell. They’ve just pocketed £60m for Olise. They have other saleable assets in Eze and Wharton so they know they’ve got that income at some point in the next year or two. Maybe they just wait it out. Liverpool, the previous front runners now seemingly aren’t interested and I can’t think of any other top 6 club that needs a cb. So who is this competition Luke says may hijack our bid. A foreign team? Bayern? He’s interested by all accounts. It’s just about selling him the project and speed. Time for Mitchell to prove his reputation.
  9. F365 (terrible source) are saying the bid is £34m (not likely) and that we’re in a “battle” with Lazio. They get their info from a Spanish site. Just more nonsense from overseas journalists who go along with the “richest club in the world” stuff and link us to every player going. I’d file along with the Raphinha and Ferran Torres rubbish.

Yes because I think it’s important to have your defence sorted first, starting with the GK. It’s how Rafa operated. We currently have Botman and Lascelles injured for half the season. Burn and Schar are getting on and have just played 2-3 mammoth seasons. Kelly’s history suggests he is susceptible to injury and currently hasn’t played a single minute of pre-season football. Your back line informs how the rest of the team will play. I think of the GK as like a drummer in a band. They dictate the tempo, the rhythm, the rest of the band follows. Miggy and Murphy need upgrading of that there is no doubt, but the foundations come before the roof, the ice cream before the sprinkles, the Ashworth before the Mitchell.

Well he’s not a Newcastle fan. He’s not even from the area. He’s an outsider with a chip on his shoulder likely forged through years of being told that he is wrong (and is more often than not). He likely believes in the “deluded Geordies” trope, it comes across in all of his writing. He’s always trying to dampen our expectations. He has one of these personalities like a lot of journalists where they think the sun shines out of their arse. They’re all Shakespeare in their own minds.

When did Sky Sports go from being the best for breaking sports news to the absolute last to know? These kind of days putting more weight behind baseless gossip than actual well researched journalism. Seems like their standard response is to deny something which everyone knows is happening or has happened just so they can control the stream of output surrounding that story. Seriously, both Caulkin and Romano have said he’s agreed terms and is coming for a medical. Idk maybe he’s right but SSN has taken a massive tumble in recent years.
  14. Imagine my shock. It was always about getting him a new contract and his agent a fat pay day. Liverpool and the slotter can do one.
  15. Criticism of their shit performances and lack of transfer movement muted due to their kits being so good. They’re so fickle it’s unreal. https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/blinded-by-the-kits.1637642/
  16. You could be right having read further. They seem a little distressed financially.
  17. I like the sound of multi club. Don’t like the sound of 777. Though I do like this “It's understood PIF believe a multi-club network, coupled with proposed new financial rules similar to UEFA's squad cost control measures, will give them more financial freedom and allow Newcastle to compete with the big six.”
  18. Fab confirming and somehow managing to not mention the year he was born which is some very recent weird annoying trend.
