  1. Starting in 40 mins against France. It’ll be a good test for him.
  2. Calvert Lewin will be without a club after the 30th. If Howe does want him he’ll surely be coming in.
  3. He’s one who won’t get a penny cheaper because Forest don’t want to or need to sell him. Waiting until the end of August will just make him more expensive because they’ll have less time to replace him. Pay up or move on.
  4. They’ve signed a couple but I meant the new manager.
  5. A lot of the teams in the league can do whatever they want. If we finish outside the European places it’ll be entirely our fault.
  6. It’s only really Arsenal and Villa who are quiet in the area we’ll be competing in this season. At least half the league aren’t relevant to us.
  7. Brighton, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd and Tottenham have all strengthened in some way.

“Howe would prefer for Newcastle to have new arrivals in the building by the time the team return for pre-season training in early July, with a goalkeeper, centre-back and right-winger on his wish-list. The failure to do any significant business last summer was well publicised, amid tension between Howe and new sporting director Paul Mitchell. And the head coach says the challenge now is to make deals happen. ‘It's great that the window opens on June 1,’ he said. ‘The challenge is for us to sign players in early June. But it doesn't always work like that. I hope in reality it does, but it rarely works like that. ‘It gets harder and harder to sign good players. So I'd rather sign the right player than settle for someone and get them in early, but let's wait and see. It is very difficult to predict.’” from 2nd May.
  9. “Howe said: ‘I’ve made it clear last year that there’s almost two transfer windows now. The PSR deadline plays a huge role for clubs – both those clubs with PSR issues and those without, because those without may potentially look to try to sign players. They will look to take advantage of other clubs, as clubs did to us last year, quite rightly.” “‘It’s a really interesting dynamic, and one that we’re really aware of and that we’ll try to use to our advantage if we can. I can’t go into the details of that, but no doubt we’ve got people at the club who are working very hard behind the scenes on it.’”
  10. What are people seeing about our recruitment speed to suggest we can just buy half a squad while also selling 3 or 4? Any chance of something like that happening went out the window with Mitchell leaving. It’s Championship Manager thinking. Dubravka Karius Dummett Hall Huntley Ndiweni Parkinson That was the bench away at PSG in 23/24 and we couldn’t even name enough players in the previous Dortmund game.
  11. Most would have sold Murphy for pennies last Summer.
  12. I’d keep him as well in part because we’re at the stage of needing to add players, not lose them. One or two injuries and he’s important again. It wasn’t too long ago he was a regular in a team that got us 4th and then didn’t look out of place at all in the champions league. His main problem is that he got replaced by one of the best players in the world and therefore looks a worse player than he actually was in comparison.
  13. I was watching the u19’s England game earlier and Kiano Dyer massively stood out to me. Looked him up and he’s also at Chelsea.
  14. Guess who said this 3 weeks ago “Speed is key because we have to be dynamic, we have to be ready to conclude things very quickly because good players don’t hang around for long. That’s always been my thought and my message on recruitment really because you can have a period when you think you have time - but then you look around quickly and you see that time has elapsed and you missed opportunities you won’t get again. That’s what we will be trying but the reality of that is it’s not always in your hands - but we will do our best to do things early.”
  15. That really isn’t overspending on a potentially world class keeper who we could get 10 years out of.
  16. It’s cut off but he played a 5 yard pass to the scorer.
  17. A man who was physically forced to celebrate a cup win and a man who danced because his team scored a goal in a final.
  18. Sometimes you need to pay the price because the benefits of owning that thing now can far outweigh the benefits of saving some money but then possibly not getting that thing. Howe’s heavy insistence on speed of action has me rather spooked, I’ll admit.
  19. “We bid £6” ”No, it’s £6.50” ”We refuse to pay this “Saudi Tax” fee!”
  20. Straight swap for Pope so we can try and not spend any money for another window.
