  1. He’d be twice the price if he had a year or two’s more experience in the PL which is why we need him now, not later. Best case scenario is he’s really good this season, gets in ahead of Pickford for England at the World Cup and we have the best “young” keeper in the world. He’s absolutely worth any kind of gamble for that price since we’d probably get it back, if not more, if he cant get to the level we need.
  2. “Howe continued: “Speed is key for us and I have reiterated that many times internally. Speed is key because we have to be dynamic, we have to be ready to conclude things very quickly because good players don’t hang around for long. That’s always been my thought and my message on recruitment really because you can have a period when you think you have time - but then you look around quickly and you see that time has elapsed and you missed opportunities you won’t get again. That’s what we will be trying but the reality of that is it’s not always in your hands - but we will do our best to do things early.” He couldn’t be clearer though he also said this just before the above which is quite revealing… “As I said, we have to get the financials right, we have to get the other aspects of trying to sign a player right. Hopefully, we can do that.” https://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/eddie-howe-transfer-newcastle-united-champions-league-5145955
  3. Gordon, Pedro, Grealish and Bruno in the team and we’re trying to hire a set piece coach. Lovely stuff.
  4. Being able to complain about Gordon being brilliant and scoring against us (after they’ve said they’re happy to sell him) is an absolute dream scenario for some. They’d shoot themselves in the foot so they can moan about being in pain.

    João Pedro

https://streamin.me/v/53a8a7a3 Plenty of this stuff plus loads of diving and he missed the last 2 Brighton games for having a fight with a teammate. He’d be the second coming of Bellamy and the death of the no dickheads rule.
  6. If Howe wants him and it might help us keep Isak, bring him home.
  7. There is a lot of “he did well against us, let’s buy him” in these transfer rumours. Hopefully we’re a bit more grown up than that.
  8. Shall we do a sweepstake on when the club officially announces a new signing? Date and time required and it must be a twitter/x post, nearest wins. Winner gets nothing because us signing a player is enough of a prize.
  9. Bellamy definitely did that against Villa away in 2004. Right in front of our fans.
  10. The sooner we do it the sooner other clubs won’t be allowed to.
  11. Admittedly Howe was talking before Mitchell was announced as leaving so things might be completely different now. It’s definitely out of character though which he has always been very careful about.
  12. It would have been fascinating to see how a successful Guehi bid would have turned out since the club have (hopefully deliberately) put out mixed messages about our transfer activity in the last year. The club have unofficially said there’s no money but Howe has contradicted that on a few occasions in the last two windows. I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to think he’s basically issuing something of an ultimatum in the way he’s been speaking recently. He’s been very matter of fact in a way he never is over transfers. The money is there, we need players and we need them quickly. There’s no excuses at all from the higher ups this summer and he wants us all to know it.

  14. Disappointing but also a relief if he’s joining for non-footballing reasons. It’s inevitable but the longer we can avoid signing mercenaries the better.
  15. He constantly shouts, points and pulls faces regardless of what’s actually happening. I’ve always thought had some kind of condition so never mocked him for it.
  16. “Manchester United's team were met by around 35 super-keen local fans who'd waited for hours on end at the W Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, on the first stop of their tour. Waiting for the coach to return, post match after a 1-0 loss? Um, about 34 fewer fans”
  17. Imagine someone like Shearer making a mistake then pretending to be injured so he can go off. In a European final at that.
  18. Pretending he’s injured. Dreadful.
  19. Anybody we sign now has to be a Howe choice so bring him home.
