  1. He did the “I’m taking this penalty” thing again earlier this pre-season which is a worry tbh. I like his desire to score but he doesn’t appear to have learned anything after that Everton game. No questioning his talent though.

Can’t be having any Palace disrespect. They saved us from Pardew, which is the ultimate favour.

Doubt the social media team knows much or indeed anything about where the negotiations are tbh, they’re just doing their job.

Palace have already replaced him with Chadi Riad who they bought in May
  5. Can’t remember the specific game but Babayaro was bad enough in it for me to think of him nearly 20 years later for this. Danny Simpson also had some games where the other team would constantly attack his side knowing he would back off and never, ever put a tackle in.
  6. Carl Cort was good when we could get him on the pitch. Did well for Wolves afterwards but again injuries ruined his potential.

No, but I think he’s going under the radar a bit in terms of how handy he’s been for us. He’ll be a good backup option for whoever comes in.

Over the last 2 seasons Murphy has 17 attacking returns in the equivalent of 27 games in the league. He’s not the solution but he’s far from a problem.

“It was also reported that Chelsea had included sell-on incentives and the right to match any offers made for Guéhi in future” From Wiki. They’ll be lurking, as usual.
  10. Something to make you all feel old. He wasn’t even born when Keegan came back in 2008.
  11. They died in February/May 2018 when he was Aston Villa manager. He was pictured having a lovely time in Barbados at the cricket in January 2019 while on the Sheffield Wednesday payroll.
  12. Been reading Schmeichel‘s book (it was 99p, please forgive me) and Ferguson’s reaction here is interesting “In the Premier League, we were overtaken by Arsenal, who found incredible form in the run-in and beat us in a decisive game at Old Trafford, for which we were missing so many players. The final nail in our coffin was a 1–1 draw at home to Newcastle after which Fergie exploded in fury–at Ole, of all people. I was injured and watching from near the dugout when Rob Lee went through on goal in the last minute of the game. Ole sprinted after him, caught up and took him down on the edge of the box. Uriah Rennie showed him the inevitable straight red and he trotted off–after a pat on the head from Becks–to a standing ovation. I never saw Fergie so angry. He detested cynical play. As soon as we got to the dressing room he screamed at Ole, absolutely bawled him out. ‘That is NOT who we are. We’re Manchester United. We don’t do that!’ he yelled, and even in the middle of this hairdryer hurricane I think all of us–Ole included–respected his values.”
  13. Tottenham have got some exciting youngsters coming through. Will Lankshear could be the next Kane and also Lucas Bergvall who looks to be the best bet.
  14. A few bits from this weeks Popbitch. “Harry Maguire is getting a lot of online support to be reinstated as Man Utd club captain after a video of him greeting all the Man Utd academy kids did the rounds this week. But if being an all-round good guy is the qualification, it would be a huge mistake to remove incumbent Bruno Fernandes. Remember at the end of last season, the new Man Utd bosses decided they weren't going to do the usual thing of paying for club staff to attend the FA Cup final, nor put on a club party to celebrate their appearance? One person who was absolutely horrified at this snub to the loyal backroom staff, tea ladies, kitmen, stewards (etc) was Bruno Fernandes. So he went to the club offering to pay for everything – and everyone – out of his own pocket. His offer was rebuffed, as the club didn't want him to make them look bad.” and… “England managerial target Eddie Howe is a massive A-Ha fan.” https://a-ha-live.com/tyne-and-again/
  15. Sad to say but yet again you can’t actually sack Southgate after this. It’s too idealistic to sack him based on performances when the results show we lost one game (the final) and even that was in the last minute. He’ll get the World Cup if he wants it.
  16. Had to double check the date in the article because it sounded far too long ago but it is indeed nearly 7 years since she first appeared at that Liverpool game.
  17. Kane now seems to insist on coming off early when it’s important. That CL game against Real Madrid was a sign.

Haven’t watch it yet but he’s good with his analysis.
  19. It’ll be interesting to see who gets/takes the blame for this if it happens. If it is purely about the money then Howe would surely be in the clear.
  20. He was a good finisher under Ancelotti, a manager who knew how to use him. Cannot stress enough how much a manager matters to a player. We’ve seen it here with Howe digging at least half the squad out of the grave that Bruce put them in. I also dread to think how Isak would get on in that Everton team. Any half decent attacking player should steer well clear of them.
  21. Carlo Ancelotti absolutely loves DCL which is enough for me. He called him a “complete striker” and said he was better than Inzaghi in many ways. It’s worth reading some of his quotes. It’s hard to really judge him on last season because Everton scored the second least amount of goals in the league almost by design. We scored over twice as many so you’d expect a higher output from him automatically.
  22. Seems to be a bizarre amount of own goals in this tournament.

    Fixtures 2024/25

Almost all of the tricky games until January are at home so we’ve got a real chance to be in an excellent position at Christmas. That also means we’ve got plenty of winnable home games in the second half to keep the momentum up. Ideally, the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, West Ham and Brighton (and Man Utd) will have kneecapped themselves with bad appointments and Villa struggle with Europe.
  24. Commentators suggest they aren’t “The referee felt the Brazilian knew what he was doing there” “He should have had one in the first half actually” “Booked for persistent infringement”
