  1. Keith Downie dropping a hint on Loaded Mag pod that club has shifted gears and are looking at bringing in a RW even if they can't move on Miggy Edit: a name "we've been linked to before" but not 40-50m range; also reporting Geuhi is "quite close"
  2. Your post history suggests otherwise, on that score
  3. We can agree to disagree. One is a world class CB - the other had a good Euro 2024, but before that, was nowhere near his current valuation based on his prem performance. Not sure if its the England fealty that seems to tickle on this matter. There's really no need to take things (e.g., my opinions) so hard, mate. It's just chatter.
  4. There he is. You might be the first to suggest Guehi is the superior option to Tapsoba. Clears up a lot of confusion I had surrounding your perspective, though, must say.
  5. Would probably require dumping a purple or Miley next summer yea. The 70m price tag on Guehi to me screams unknown quantity, because we know, to a certainty, that based on his ability alone his value is somewhere in the 40m range. Think he's as much a gamble on potential the way Gordon was when we bought him.

I guess if you say "it's not a mess" loud enough then that makes it not a mess.
  7. So 65m on Guehi, an unknown quantity, would be rational in your eyes, but 100m on Tapsoba, a known quantity and world class CB, would be out of the question for you? Not asking tongue in cheek either, genuinely curious.
  8. Not really sure what you mean by this since we do know for a certainty we haven't purchased any Mintehs or Tinos this summer
  9. We buy youth yea - but I mean more Tino, Hall, Gordon levels youth. Prospects with some pedigree that cost a decent amount, but with potential to double, triple, quadruple in value, etc. Pivas doesn't really fit that bill.
  10. Not unique to Brighton - elite clubs have elite youth, and are constantly restocking their reserves. Villa this summer window have brought in several "bargain" options of unproven youth talent, as well.
  11. Hello darkness my old friend
  12. Good shout didn't realize how low his wages are
  13. Really hope this isn't a bluff just to get Guehi for 65m... Can't see Leverkusen parting with him, but I think the notion that he'd be uninterested in us is a bit overblown. We're a year removed from CL football in the most competitive league in the world. Who knows what his thinking is. Does look a smokescreen, though.
  14. Surely he's trying to wind people up with this one

Good shout - not sure we'd want a footballer who wasn't capable of seeing the mess he was getting himself into. No malice towards him though I hope it won't tank his career.

Poor lad. I'd feel bad for him if it wasn't foreseeable.

Yes you're right. Its all very vague. Whatever we do, I hope we'll take a definitive stance one way or another in the coming days. Maddening watching us being toyed with by a mid-table side.

You think Palace wouldn't leak to the public if there were other interested bidders? Same way they've been leaking our interest, bid-by-bid, the past three weeks?

You are bang on. I've seen a high number of posts in here that say something along the lines of if we can't sign a world class talent at RW, we should hold out until next summer. People seem to genuinely believe the only way to improve the squad is to bring in a Raphinha or Olise. Strange entitlement for a club that was on the verge of relegation some months ago. Cartel 6 clubs have been consistently making sub-20m signings window after window, as well as sub-30m and sub-40m signings. The notion that Guehi, whose fair market value is probably half of what Palace are asking, is the only way to improve our starting xi is frankly madness. Is no one scratching their head at the fact that we are, effectively, the sole bidders for this superstar talent? He would improve our squad, and I would be excited for him to join, but the club's transfer policy has frankly confused me.
  20. Spot on. No RW is especially puzzling to me because we could literally bring in anyone north of 25m+ fair market value and instantly upgrade the position. Still time to move, but you do get the sense we've been looking for the "home run" transfer, while other clubs have been making incremental improvements.
  21. Sure soton gave us a little punch in the mouth the first 15 minutes, but once Schar went off, we literally were offering them effectively full possession. We had tremendous possession down a man and pushed for the goal we needed, which we got, and, very predictably, basically sat in the box the rest of the game. If we don't go down a man, we probably get 3 or 4 after Soton's little initial burst of energy wore out.
  22. This is great... Fork it over arsenal
  23. If 65 for Guehi is fair, then surely 50m for Mbeumo is snap-your-arm-off good no?
