Yeah, he only had 370 minutes in the league though. And quite a few of those were coming on when we were 2 or three goals up and not even trying to attack. Going essentially the equivalent of 4 or 5 games without a goal is hardly that worrying. Plus another 103 mins in the cups with one goal. So he played basically just over 5 games, with one goal. It's his availability that's the main concern for me. He's obviously not going to be quite the player he was after all the injuries, but personally I think people are overstating his decline. I'd have no problem with him getting a deal heavily incentivised on him not falling apart, particularly if we have extra cover via a RW who can cover CF or if Howe decides it's now time to give people a proper taste of Big Willy.

Possible he hasn't had the offers he was hoping for mind.

When I was casting my beady eye over some GK stats today after a post in the Trafford thread, as you do, Ederson by far led the league in 'post shot expected goals minus goals allowed per 90' , otherwise known as 'did he do more savey savey than expected based on actual quality of shots faced'. Couple of years ago seemed to have had a really bad season on that metric, which might be why he's now assumed shit.

Often the problem with top teams and developing talent! I hope he gets plenty of opportunities next year because I think he's a really good young player.

I imagine lots of teams have something like that. Obvioiusly you'll know better than me, but my guess is it would just be something like: here's your salary. If we're don't get CL it goes down by 25% for that year. Or maybe, here's your salary, if we're in CL it goes up by 25% or something. Set 25% of salary decreases or increases could be weird cause, say you have someone on 100k. Miss out on CL so goes down 25% to 75k. Get CL again so it goes up by 25% of salary - 25% of 75 is 18.75 so they'd now be up to £93.75k pw, worse off than before. Would be sneaky mind, but probably annoying for a player and seems a lot simpler to just have a set reduction.

I'm not advocating changing everything we do. The 4231's just something I think we should add more to the repetoire, particularly in obvious passing situations like goalkicks. It's just a way of getting better control of the ball in our own half and moving up the pitch, which we're not very good at currently.

I'd say Bruno's unfastliness is a problem in a system where he has to be both our only DM and our main attacking playmaker. When he's already in the DM position it's not an issue. If he's in a 2 and Tonali toddles up the field he's fine holding fort IMO.
