Rarely starts now and still gets injured, only going to get worse with age. Also, only one year left on his deal and we won't give him the wages he'll be looking for his last big contract. So serves everyone well to move on this summer.
-
Even if we were over the years to bridge gap to Tier 2 you put, in that time, those in Tier 2 will likely move on to Tier 1 and Tier 1 itself will grow. Anfield will expand further, Chelsea still want a new stadium eventually, and Man City will continue to expand over time because that’s continually got room for growth. So even if it was feasible to expand towards Tier 2, it’s probably better cost wise long term to go for new build.

Agree. Even if we got a midfielder that eventually becomes as good as Bruno or better, Bruno has come in and been top quality from word go, and we can’t afford to take steps back by losing him. Bit different if probably 1-2 more seasons down the project line. Hopefully we make the full use out of him in those seasons to progress before we do eventually sell.

I don’t think you can leave money behind for unexpected injury crisis, especially when we are in mode of needing to kick on and improve. No clue on what they had projected, but I would hypothetically assume that spending last summer and plans for next summer, would’ve been set on an median, which would’ve been European competition post Christmas, cup runs and qualification for Europe again (lowest form via league). A lot of those may not be met, which means heavily reduced plans this summer, or very creative spending. One iffy NFT sponsor in so far, might need to test waters and boundaries by getting some big sponsor in end of season to help keep targeted spending aims on track.

My success has been dreadful. Mostly I assume because I’ve been going in as 2 tickets, but still, for every home league game so far, Brentford and Palace are only two I’ve been successful. Have been successful for West Ham so that’s 3 out of 16 (wasn’t successful for Everton) 3 more to go (Spurs being one). Been mixing them up across Cat 1-3, and been successful in 1 and 3 x2.

I just assumed with Barnes deal, it was a case of RW options not there for who we want, and so Barnes was available and money spent there. So LW purchase brought forward. Could money have been held back, sure, but that would’ve seen fan base meltdown Like Diaby was the RW we were linked with loads, and the fee and wages likely saw us park it, with options elsewhere moved to consider for 24-25.

Player like Merino would be ideal. Don’t need a midfielder that can get around winning tackles, need one that can take it off the defence/receive deep, be press resistant and play that forward pass. Bruno is that, but he’s so good in final third, I want him operating there more often, plus our weakness is simply not being good with the ball in midfield because it all falls on Bruno.
-
Didn’t the same approach happen with Barnes? Rest, try and avoid surgery. Part of me feels that by end of season, he’ll have surgery on that foot and miss pre season as a result.
-
If it’s someone who’s a legit elite defender, leader type, then I wouldn’t be concerned about that. Because a top defender will make those around them better with the increased confidence/leadership.
-
Said it as part of his call up, but I can see this international break being the kicker for him to now go to a higher level, by being around the elite players and realising in himself “I belong here / what I need to do further to reach these levels consistently”.
-
Think it just means he’s gutted he can’t recover from knee ligament damage again by just resting up for 2-3 months and be fine.
-
Don’t think it changes much either. We needed a CB in summer anyway before the injury, so should’ve been factored in. What it should do now though, cement the fact that Burn is now needed at CB and Hall needs blending in now at LB with him and Target the LB options next season, and Lascelles potentially kept around unless a deal too good needs accepting. If we don’t suffer same injuries in defence, then a back line of Tino-Schar-New CB-Hall (Trips-Lascelles-Burn-Targett) is doable. Because if we get it right in front, the defence are more solid as a result.
-
Dubravka / Trippier-Schar-Burn-Tino / Longstaff-Bruno-Willock / Almiron-Isak-Gordon That can be the team I can see starting from Howe so far. See how much that get's impacted over next week. Ideally, I'd have Miley in over Longstaff.

Christ, stop leaving it to the bloody players to decide if they’re fit or not Like asking a player after they’ve been knocked out if they’re good to play, they will say yes.
-
Not necessary for me implies it’s an option but could be avoided. So gone with try and avoid as we need every body going and it’s came back bite?
-
From January. Guess we stuck with the specialists that said it wasn’t?
-
Colwill should be the CB we go all out for, especially if Chelsea need to sell a HG. Big potential, also capable playing LB if needed when we have full availability.
-
Mean the guy was just supposed to be out for a week, then spent like 3 months out, with nothing but rest for a knee injury, and has looked way off pace wise and confident wise since then. It’s fair to say loads of specialists said it was fine, but most people been saying since he’s come back, something is clearly not recovered and he must be carrying some injury.
-
Been obvious for ages he needed surgery ffs. This medical team. Could’ve done this in December. Prodigy even more now for a CB.
-
Another reason McClaren was bad for me too was because he came in with a principle of maybe we’ll actually see some coaching of the side at last, and that just didn’t happen with players getting worse and tactics a mess. Basically in the end ditched any attempt of a passing game and went counter attacking. Just an absolute cluster fuck.
-
Probably bet on Prem games whilst at AC and still at Newcastle.
-
What would be peoples feelings on ticket prices if we were to move to a new stadium that was on same level of commercial income as Spurs? Because any move would surely see a substantial increase in ticket prices/season tickets? Which would be a price point that excludes a good portion of the fanbase.
-
White won’t even be needed next season. Just had unprecedented depletion in middle but we’ve got post a Longstaff sale: Bruno/Tonali/Willock Joelinton/Miley/Anderson More than enough and only need to go into market if Joelinton is moved on. Probably also a fair argument that if we wanted MGW again in summer because of a deal to be made, he can play CM too (whilst I expect he’d be the RW).

One of the positives of a new build whilst we’ve got Saudi money, is you’d hope the stadium would be mean debt free for club. Whereas, most of times, it would be saddled on the club which has restraints for what can be done on the pitch for multiple years till debt is cleared.

Voted stay, but that was on basis of new build on adjacent location. I like where it’s situated currently.
