Burn against Johnson As has been for a long time, attack best form of defence. Not going to hold them at bay by sitting back and counter, just got to go for it and get that lead, and make it a scrappy game. Really want us to bring back our cunt tactics. That’s what helped us loads last season, just not really seen it this season.

His contract ends 2025, so not like Brentford can hold out too much as he’s not signing a new deal. Wouldn’t be surprised if he moves closer to £40m with add-ons later in window. Because Toney will be agitating for a move.

Hopefully some nerves get to Spurs tomorrow. With their upcoming games, they'll be earmarking this as a game they have to be winning to get top 4. The tighten up in their play and make mistakes, the door opens more for us giving the depleted squad we've got.

Weren’t there some wild chatter year ago about us building a training ground down south? Let’s just play at Wembley.
-
It’s going to be option 2. Be amazed if Dummett or Ritchie start. Probably be the game now that Schar actually gets properly injured in, and not the fake injury.
-
Ah, the classic ‘rest’ See you in December Willock.
-
Liked what I see of Ederson. Think if he was a serious consideration for us, that game against Liverpool might firm up that interest now.
-
One more foul and he’s off.

I’m all in on the English talent, the talent pool in the younger age groups and within Championship is so strong. There’s a reason European clubs abroad have and are targeting those groups more now. I’d be very happy if we kept that as a main source of recruits.

Huh? They still do the commercial tours, just not packed with countless pointless games. 23/24: 3 Games; 22-23: 2 Games (with a random one after season started) ; 21-22: 3 Games; 20/21 0 Games; 19/20 4 Games; 18/19 3 Games. Most of them come with community shield which is essentially a higher pace pre season game, but it’s so few compared to average.

He is really IMO. If we wanted to go big on a star signing like him, we can pay the wages. Just would need to come with some creative accounting. But he’s one of those players, where a club would’ve already done the ground work, and as soon as that club gets whiff of someone else making a move who Leverkusen are willing to sell for that price, they will make the move.

Nothing wrong with going on tours, just don’t need to play so many games. Feel in modern football, Pep/Man City have the right idea. They rarely more than 2/3 pre season games, and it’s mostly just spent on training ground. What most top sides should do IMO. We played 2 games, then flew to USA where 5 after days after last we were playing again and 3 in quick succession, travelling across vast distances. Must be little spent actual training and it spent playing, recovery, travel, playing. We end this season playing in Australia 3 days after season end which is pure jokes . Going to be bare squad going out there as I’d want all senior players rested. Like Bruno/Isak etc better not play. Get an injury in those games and miss 2 months and as a result pre season, would be so detrimental.

Becuase in theory across both full backs, we’ve got 4 in Krafth/Hall/Tino/Trippier, latter two can play LB if needed. Basically got numbers, so unless a legit top class LB is available for a deal that can’t be passed on, it’s not needed. Would also need to move one of those 4 on.
-
As said other day, it needs a heavy dose of ‘It’s the Eredivise’. I’d expect Dan James to post 30+ GA if he played a full season there Get him on another loan in a more challenging league.
-
What’s going to be the bad news that balances this out? Trippier set back and out for a month?
-
Should be a fun game, both sides are capable of brutally exposing each others glaring weaknesses. Us with the balls down the sides with runners from central areas, them with pace and Maddison have free reign in the massive space in front of our defence. I’d be starting Gordon on RW and Barnes on LW this game. If Trippier isn’t fit, I wouldn’t be against Murphy starting over Krafth, just for the legs and extra pace in back line.
-
Nice. Bruno / Joe / Tonali / Willock / Miley / Anderson + one more long term prospect would be good, with Longstaff moved on.
-
I’d love Gray. Understand the argument we need players that can improve XI straight away, but we’re in a position still where signings like Gray can be made and bedded in whilst expectations are low. So we can sign them, get them settled and they’re a key player for many seasons.
-
2 seems to be stop an appeal, but Forest I expect to see theirs reduced to 2. That all for breaking PSR, we may as well go big in summer.
-
If he goes out on loan again, it needs to be to a different league. Eredivise is poor, like there's legit L1 level sides in there. Needs an actual step up if it's not with us.
-
This is why his agent will being trying to tout a move. It's his last chance for a good contract, likely to get it this summer whilst he's got a finisher label, a season of being injured again, less minutes and goals, and his worth is even less at 33. One of those situations, both player and club know what they want, and will try and make it happen if it's there.
-
Think we can sign two, if one is on a free. Because Lascelles you can deregister, and long term end of 2025 season, you probably anticipate one of Schar/Burn to be moved on.
-
And also more sides are having one of the full backs invert so there’s bundles of space outwide.
-
Think if Hall started season as LB, he’d have made his England debut by now considering there’s literally no LBs outside of Chilwell/Shaw Even with many of them, the defensive side was a major weakness at the young age, but it was the attacking play that got them the chance. Hall will be similar, he’s not going to know the defensive side of game till it’s developed from games and learning, but attacking side he’s technically great and in a strong side we’ll see more of that and maximise it rather than needing to be spent defending. This period of season where we’re likely going to need to defend a lot more is going to be huge for his development, and will give him areas he can focus on developing during pre season.
-
Just get him under the knife. Going to end up with players missing pre season, knock on effect for start of next season by not triggering things.
