Lack of pace centrally is killing West Ham this game.

Gomez / Kerkez as full backs then Gakpo / Wirtz wide? That’s a proper stodgy wide areas. Can see Isak coming off at HT having had like 8 touches.

Interesting thing about that, Bruno afterwards gave Ramsdale a thumbs up, so it’s a ball Bruno wants. -
Aaron Ramsdale: return to Southampton confirmed

That’s one of the main reasons why he has to start for me, because it makes opposition need to think differently. It’s no longer mark the defenders, press the keeper and it will go long (easy to win back), it’s now it can be punched into a CM / go wide, and we’re on front foot where opposition don’t get the ball back so easily meaning they have to work harder for it. Across 90 minutes it’s so valuable. Think Ramsdale will also have a genuine bite to his game if he stays in because he would have a genuine chance of going to World Cup, and come World Cup, if Pickford gets injured, he could be 2nd in line. -
The bits I saw of him in La Liga, I liked the look of him. Raw but something there and wanted us to explore the signing at the fee he went for. But Christ, how wrong was I if he’s never going to polish up his game.

We need to get this guy new contract sorted ASAP to kill all interest from rival clubs. Same for Lewis Hall.

This is where I disagree. I understand he’s better more advanced, but he’s calm ball playing and physical height will make him a natural CDM in years to come. Already knows what he’s going to do with the ball before he receives it which is the elite thing you need from a CDM. It’s just the defensive awareness and aggression, which will come in time.

Him and Bruno were superb linking up today. Tonali if he can slot in on left side for Joelinton, and we could have a running midfield. We all feel we needed a CDM, and Miley can fill that for rest of season and allow Bruno freedom to be closer to opposition box more.

We have two home games, these are away to Liverpool / Man City. If we’re not above them come Derby day, something has gone wrong badly.
-
Really good solid performance, platform to build on. Do think he benefits loads from Bruno in higher role to play the pass to them earlier.
-
Absolute 5 star performance from everyone that, but my word, Lewis Hall. Christ. The difference having a LB who takes someone on when in a tight space and keeps possession is game changing, we’ll fly up the league if we keep him and Tino fit.

People still want to burrow their heads in the sand that Sunderland are not actually rivals for Europe this season? Their home form will push them on if everyone else falters. May fall away come April, but they’re genuine threat right now.

Need this game to end a draw as Bournemouth could be an issue this season.
-
Just needs to be a good player tonight. Don’t expect a goal / assist, but an overall contribution to the side in general play that gives confidence to give him a run.
-
Argument that the back 5 is our strongest, so will be interesting to see how they all look as a unit.
-
Bruno further forward to supply the wingers will hopefully be a good change up. Not got any issues with that XI as on recent form, Tonali has no right to start as any others. It’s all over to the tactical display now to see if we have improved.
-
He’s changed it up.

All the noses turned up at DCL still funny. Whilst we continually roll out Gordon.

What a mug. Sunderland with the luck once again. 3-2 Sunderland win incoming.

Wouldn’t be cash used? Be loans etc. and a long term property asset within UK that’s showcased on the global stage for decades to come as it’s called ‘Saudia Arena’ (or something similar). Would like to think if they were serious, a new stadium would be built that gives an insight into what their World Cup stadiums will be like in 8 years time.

Phillips was weird because he was never going to be a starter with Rodri there. And Grealish was a very good player, who was just nerfed by Pep to play to certain qualities (ball retention). Man City need legs in the middle, and more HG quota moving forward. Not really a surprise if they want to make a play for Anderson (similar to why they’re continuously linked with Tino). Rjeinders has been poor, Silva and Kovacic will be off in summer, so there’s a big CM spot ready to be filled alongside Rodri. Plus how Anderson has been performing for England, he’s showing he can do that deep CM role exceptionally well which Man City still lack without Rodri (Gonzalez too weak).

I don’t mind Burn LCB when he has Hall LB. With Thaiw he has someone with great recovery speed alongside him too. It’s the midfield and how we get bodies running beyond Wolte / around him that’s my issue. Don’t feel the main trio should no longer be starters away, but someone either dynamic to run forward (Ramsey / Willock) or someone to control game more (Miley). Do feel Willock played himself into starting at Everton and it could be same midfield we saw midweek. If Gordon is fit, have a feeling Barnes will go to RW :/ Which would be definition of shoehorning in players (I.e. Gordon has play LW which means Barnes because he’s on form has to then go RW. When he should just be left LW and you play the output guy RW or the £55m guy).
