Tbf their older players have just simply been better. Even last season they were much better once they brought in rashford and asensio are who were both older signings. Emery is a technical manager which is why i think they handle european football so well because it not all based on high energy. I can see they continue to just keep on getting older technically gifted players who have top level experience like trippier was for us. Real would be stupid to get Emery with the type of players they have he left PSG for that exact reason.

We arent the only team to lose their top player. There are teams who lose top players and dont even reinvest the money. We did and we are have been crap. This is not a bottom half team. What excuse does he actually have for finishing bottom half? Getting europe was not hard this season because so many other teams have been bad but we have been one of the worst. Im starting to wish we had never got UCL last season what positive did it even bring Europa would have been better.

They finished 8th in league phase they should have faced 9th placed atalanta who shockingly lost thier tie against club brugge who finished lowest in playoff stage. Yes the summer was a factor for us. But villa have also had players that have wanted to leave. They are better at not letting it get to the point that happened with isak. Duran had a big ego and they got rid as quickly as possible. All this comes with experience of dealing with clubs this level. They also have a lot of less players who think they deserve to go somewhere better which i think is more of an age thing as their squad is a lot older.

I will say this. There are a lot of things Emery's Villa made look easy, but it actually isn't. Last season, I remember seeing comments about how the new UCL format made things much easier for them, yet this season we have done nowhere near as well as they did last season. In fact, the increased number of games has made our league performances even worse and ended our UCL run with one of the worst losses by an English team in the UCL, at the hands of Barca, who then got knocked out by Atletico the next round. I think we would have had a great shot at winning Europa, but I very much doubt we would have juggled the league as well as they did while doing it. Ours would have been on par with Spurs and Man United last season (which would have still bee impressive).

The biggest test for europa will be next season with 2 or 1 prem teams with little to no european experience vs some top european teams. I cant see brighton or bournemouth winning this next season. It was a breeze for villa because they are a UCL level team as the league shows with the king of Europa managing them.

The thing i with iraola is that bournemouth have done well but they have also played the least amount of games im the prem with Man united knocked out of their first round of the cup competitions. Since then they have gone on this impressive run but its a lot easier to do when you hardly have any games. He needs time with a top but not "elite" club. A club that expects a good cup run and are in europe. Like a leverkusen, Dortmund, the top portugese teams or the top Serie A teams would be perfect.
