  1. He's filling in a role for us, he can't do what Gordon does up front. I don't see where he fits in long term.
  2. Burn sloppy this time. Tonight a clear example why its better to have a left-footed LCB and a right-footed RCB. The passing lanes are more natural on the foot of the side you're on.
  3. 12-1 (Real v Sporting) is the biggest aggregate win in the Champions League era if we fancy some records this season.
  4. Thought I'd Google what their result was that night out of curiosity. Sunderland 1-1 Charlton in front of 14,085. Charlton finished 15th that season, Sunderland stayed up by the skin of their teeth in 20th.
  5. Mental they knocked back the Intertoto Cup invites back under Reid. Iirc, we got the first Intertoto Cup spot last minute because a Spanish club dropped out, England was next highest co-efficient so got offered the spot and no-one between 7-10th wanted it. Ended up giving us a competitive pre-season and we hit 01/02 running.
  6. 30 years ago man. Always seems the forgotten game when it comes to the defining points being lost (Man U 0-1, Blackburn 1-2, Liverpool 3-4 & Forest 1-1 being the ones everyone points at). City were wank back then. I do remember as a kid that season being desperate for us to sign Kinkladze to be Beardsley's replacement though.
  7. Once we lost Isak we were never competing for a CL spot, Spurs were never competing. That leaves Arsenal, Liverpool, City, Chelsea & Villa. 5 will get in so you you only have to get in ahead of one. No Europe and talented forwards will get you in.
  8. Ironically a pressing striker is one of the things we've lacked this season, unless Gordon plays there.
  9. Buying a completely brand new attack and GK and only targeting top 6 is awful by the way especially with no European football to contend with (and as it turned out, no Carabao Cup football).
  10. Similar to Botman these days where it's a nice bonus when he's fit & available but can't really rely on him.
  11. He'd get the best out of a £120m player most definitely.
  12. Rotten for the league but from a self-preservation point of view, I hope Liverpool reel in Villa and they also fuck up the Europa League.
  13. Aye, there are still 35k plus regulars every game, they should be the ones carrying the atmosphere. The rest adding to it not being responsible for it.
  14. Sunderland in the middle of a Community Shield & Super Cup double-header we'd still find a way to draw 1-1.
  15. Not surprised in the least but they've been found out. They were already way ahead in terms of points compared to most metrics when they were getting results, now the results seem inkeeping with performances.
  16. Yeah, I think they spent the full 4-year Northern Rock sponsorship money on him.
  17. It's like what happened to Forest last season, except it's happened 3 months earlier.
  18. Chelsea for £60m in the next 18 months.
  19. I think Conference League is a qualifier.
  20. Would be ironic if our worst season since the takeover gives us our best chance of a couple of European trophies in the next couple of years. Would happily be a Sevilla for a few years while we fill the cabinet for a bit, then push the elite.
  21. Rangers 2 down but now against 10 men. Celtic still 1-1.
  22. Old Firm derby next week as well. Big weekend and a bit for Hearts coming up.
